Conceiving with only 1 ovary?
How much different/harder is it when TTC with only 1 functioning ovary? We're not TTC yet or anything, I was just wondering since I know only my left ovary works. The right side used to work, but I think after having those 10cm cysts on that ovary, the operation and Endo, it just doesn't work anymore. I haven't ovulated from that side in months and months.
I'm confused when people say that it takes twice as long because only one works. I would think it would be the same because you don't know which side the sperm is going to go to anyway. It's not like the sperm "know" where you ovulated from, no? Thanks!

I think people are under the impression that you ovulate from one ovary one month and the other the next. Of course that is NOT the truth, but that is probably why they are saying that.

My mother had an ectopic pg and needed to remove on ovary. She then went on to have 4 more children with no complications at all.

Yes that would be why people are saying that. Also, how do you know your ovary is not working? Just because you haven't felt ovulation from that side in a few months doesn't mean you only have 1 functioning ovary, sometimes you just ovulate from the same time many months in a row- which goes with what Jen said.

I was on the wrong board but your post popped out. I have only one ovary, and I am pregnant. My ovary was removed from a past surgury (and infact I was never informed), and md's thought it would be a bit more difficult to concieve. After 2 weeks of trying we did  The best of luck...youll be fine!
