two complaints about Downtown/Financial District...

I am ALL for the increased residential living around here...but seriously, with the increased families living down here now, there's a HUGE increase in pets...Exchange Place - between Broad Street & William Street smell like shyte & urine between the hours of 7am - 10am and again at 3pm - 6pm.

To the construction that's going on - it's impossible to walk on the sidewalks! Between scaffolding, cement/planter barriers, there's only room for one person to walk in any direction....you can't walk in the streets or else you'll get run over by:
- a delivery truck
- a livery cab
- a nanny w/a stroller
OR....b/c there's CONSTRUCTION

okay - vent over...take me back to Midtown please...

It was so much nicer down there before they built it up. But now there are cool stores and a move theatre. Woo. it has changed so much since I went to HS down there!

I work on Water Street and all you see is construction and dogs. It's ridiculous....you can't even walk anymore. Its alot more crowded than it was 8 years ago when I started working down here.

Re: two complaints about Downtown/Financial District...

i hate downtown and the commute for me downtown blows. I work in midtown and that stinks too because I'm in the middle of freakin times square!

Can't win.

Chat Icon I've always complained because it wasn't residential enough. Things close too early, it's hard to get a late breakfast or lunch ( not all of us are on financial schedules down here) no grocery store, very few hair/nail salons. . .

And too many tourists. I thought they all went to midtown, but apparently the bull is quite the draw! Chat Icon
I miss working in Chelsea.

The construction is insane though. It toally ruins lunch time walks.

Re: two complaints about Downtown/Financial District...

I feel your pain - I've been down here for 11 years now and I can't take this.

I used to love it - because it wasn't so crowded but, all of the construction for the new transportation hub kills me. I take the PATH over and now that they moved the entrance - I feel like I am moving in a herd of cattle commuting to and from work. There is no place to walk.

Wall St is bad - when I'm heading to/from the gym there are so many tourists - standing still in a line blocking the whole sidewalk - and it's frustrating when you only have so much time!

I'm in a ton as well Chat Icon

I just hate it when they stand in a huge cluster and are like LOOK!

Or when they exit Century 21 and decide to review all of their purchases on the sidewalk right outside the store.

Re: two complaints about Downtown/Financial District...

Well then, I'm glad I'm not down there anymore!

But here in Midtown on Park Avenue, you are much more likely to get hit by a Bugaboo than you are a taxi.
