I was wondering what happened to him. At first I thought he might have gone on vacation, but then he never came back. I liked him and Jodi together.

Ron Corning said Monday he felt "blindsided" by WNYW/Ch. 5's sudden decision to drop him as co-anchor of "Good Day New York," but hundreds of e-mails from well-wishers have helped ease the pain.
"Absolutely, it softens the blow," Corning told the Daily News of the messages he's gotten from viewers and people in the business. "It gives you a moment to pause, and think, yeah, maybe I'm in the right place."
Two weeks ago, while Corning was on vacation in the Caribbean, his agent got a call from officials at Ch. 5 saying the third-year option in Corning's contract wasn't being picked up.
So far, no permanent replacement has been named. The station has been using Reid Lamberty and Rick Folbaum to fill in alongside Jodi Applegate.
"Oh my God, it's like a kick in the stomach, and in this economy, there are people in very similar situations," Corning said of losing his job. "You go over and over your mind ... I was shocked, and at the same time, I've been in this business long enough to know this sort of thing happens. You hope it doesn't happen to you, but you know there's a change in management, and they're hoping to make a mark."
Typically, after an anchor change, there's a quick blip of reaction from viewers and then it subsides. In Corning's case, the response from Daily News readers and to Corning's Web site continues. He's gotten 350 messages already.
"Big mistake on Channel 5's part," wrote Daily News reader Tony Iacullo. "The chemistry is gone and so am I as a viewer."
"I was so upset at this news," wrote Ivelisse Belisle. "I really liked Ron. What is going on over at 'GDNY'? Ron is a genuine person and I hope to see him soon on my TV."
Corning said he's been spending time since he got cut getting into normal sleep patterns and taking care of routine chores around his house - while also looking for work. He's also trying to come to terms with what happened at Ch. 5.
"I was blindsided, I knew I had a third year option coming up on my contract, but I've had these one-year deals with options for the past six years, at two other places." Corning said normally there's a sense a change is coming. "None of that happened."
Corning said going through being fired and reading the messages helps validate why he was on TV in the first place.
"You're doing it for the viewers," he said. "I sort of joke, it's like being at your own funeral; people don't tell you how much they like you until you're gone."

That stinks but he's a tool. I never liked Jodi Applegate. I miss the old crew. (although that doesn't matter anymore that I'm OOS  ) we do have Lucy Noland down here though.

i stopped watching after Chris left. I liked him too. I liked Jim and Dave. It was too much changing... Dr. Steve is HOT and he's on channel 11 and so is Larry Hoff.
