Very rude. Same if you answer someone's question and you know they had to see it since they started new threads on that same page. And they never say thanks or even write on the thread again.
Yeah but I remember just a few weeks ago people saying that if you say "thanks" on your own thread it's interpreted as a gratuitous bump and frowned upon. So, I wouldn't fault anyone for this.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
I get a little put off by it, but don't think I'd hold it against someone forever. I always send a thank you, though. It just seems like the polite thing to do.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
Yes I do think its rude and it is a huge pet peeve of mine. This has happened to me recently as a matter of fact. I also recently mailed someone a coupon and never received a thank you...oh well I guess thats the last time I offer to do something or am nice and helpful to someone.

really? it is frowned upon to say thanks on your own thread? that is so strange! what will women argue over next
i think it is important to say thank you- even if it bumps your own thread.. people went out of their way to respond.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
I think that it is incredibly rude and even more rude if it was obvious that I put a decent amount of time into the response. There was one situation in which my response was lengthy and then the person and I exchanged a few more messages because they wanted clarification. I should have stopped answering when I got more questions but no thank you. If it really is a simple question and a simple response, I think there should be a thank you but I can see how someone may just forget.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
I was going to say that if I forget to thank someone it is NEVER intentional..
And to answer the actual question.. I guess it is rude, but I really don't get upset or waste time thinking about it. If I decide to take time to give a reply or an answer it is because I want to do it. I don't really do anything with the expectation of a thank you.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
I do consider it rude and irritating. But it happens ALL the time so I've just learned to deal with it differently. I have dealt with repeat offenders (people who I've written very long detailed FMs to and didn't get so much as an acknowledgement that they even received the FM) and now I just don't help those people anymore.
Anyone I do help, I help them because I want to and don't care anymore if I get a TY or not. I just don't expect a TY anymore. I still think it's rude though.

...someone were to FM you asking you questions and wanting info about certain things. So you FM them back all they wanted to know...then they dont say thank you or acknowledge the fact that you went out of your way to help and FM them all the info?
Just wondering.
This happens to me ALL the time! I pour my heart out to people do research for them and never hear a word back. Other times I've FM'd people based on a post to reassure them about something I know of and never get a response I do know if I have a lot of FM's and don't respond to each one right away I forget to respond sometimes so I usually give them the benefit of the doubt.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
If someone asks something of me in FM, I usually do get a reply back, whether it's thank you or otherwise.
But it's happened to me twice where I FM'd two people on specific things that they are "experts" on and never got an answer. After wondering if I had ever slighted them for some reason, I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that they just forgot to reply. I know it happens to me sometimes.
I suppose if you are someone who is inclined to forget about FM's, or saying thank you, you might find less people helping you in the future. So I try to consider that myself and check my FM list periodically to make sure I replied to everyone.

Re: Would you consider it rude if...
It is particularly rude if someone asks you questions.
I have people "offering" advice, info via FM about a topic I post. I try to remember to thank them all but it does not always happen. Especially if it was a "voluntary" FM. I still try to reply to them all though.
