Re: Anyone wish their Dh would get a different Job?

Sometimes. He works long hours during the week and our kids ask for him every day. He leaves at 6am before they get up and usually gets home around 10pm, hours after they are asleep. Many nights he still has a few hours of work to do once he gets home, so there are days (like yesterday) where I talk to him all of 5 minutes.

But he loves his job and the challenge it provides, so I just tell him that when the time comes that he's burnt out and needs a change, I will completely support him, even if that means that I need to go back to work again.

I wish he had a job that was not so physically demanding. He comes home sometimes and is too tired to really play with DS.Chat Icon It kills him too. He knows he wants to spend more time with us, but is so physically exhausted he just cannot.

Re: Anyone wish their Dh would get a different Job?

YES!

The only reason is that his job is 100% travel, so they can send him anywhere 5 days per week. I am lucky this year since he got to work from home for a few months and now he's in NJ (but close enough to commute). I just hate that when this project ends he could end up in CA or London or something.

I can't really complain though. He's been at this job for a while and he had been having some problems with past jobs and this job pays really well.

I just hate that he's far. For the first few weeks/months I cried every Sunday night when he left. It was awful. I don't know if I could handle that again.

DH makes great money so i cant complain there. but i do hate his hours and the fact that he can only do it in NY which means we can never leave to find a more reasonable housing market. kind of depressing but you get used to it.

My DH is a commissions only sales rep and times are tough. Since we've been married he's made less money every year Chat Icon. I'm in school and have another year before I'm done, so right now it's a constant struggle. I just wish he didn't have a job that he felt so much pressure with.

Geez, I could have wrote this. He is more motivated now though, but still does not jump on good opportunities as much as he should. My advice would be to look for another job first, once you have one secured, then give notice. I think some people just get stuck in a niche. The get comfortable and are affraid of the unknown. Life is full of risks though and with rising costs of everything, NO ONE can afford to be underemployed/underpaid.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

my dh owns his own company (home improvements) and it is sometimes stressful when there is not guaranteed money coming in every week

but it has been picking up lately so I am hopeful that it will continueChat Icon

I don't know if I could have the stomach to watch. Even watching the guys that win, they walk away pretty banged up too.

I know what you mean. UGH. Chat Icon

I know- I am used to injuries, car accidents, broken noses on the HM

but seeing someone punch and kick him is different

I am trying to be supportive

you are a good wife beth Chat Icon if I saw someone hit my DH, I would want to pounce on them Chat Icon

Re: Anyone wish their Dh would get a different Job?

Yes and no...

Yes because he works terrible long hours and works the weekends/holidays.

No because he makes a good living and is able to support me at home with our son on his salary alone.
