First Day Registering At Buy Buy Baby And Have A Quesion...
What a blast. We had a GREAT time!!!
Although we went with Graco's Infant Snugride Seat for the beginning we also put on Britax Marathon for after. All the sales people told us to do the Marathon and not Roundabout..you might as well they said, bigger and not much diff in price.
But...we ordered TWO Britax Marathon seats..are we CRAZY? One for each car. Seems so much easier. Especially since my husband will be doing the drop off at day care and me the pickup. The sales women said another inexpensive decent second car seat is the Graco Comfort (I think it was called but its manuel which I didn't like). Did any of you register for two expensive car seats as well?
Thanks

We registered for the Britax Roundabout.
But we live in Chicago and use public transportation a lot so we only have one car so I can't help with your other question.

You will definitely need 2 seats. I have the same seat in both cars-Britax Boulevard-but a lot of people get a less expensive second seat. They are equally safe. Its just the other features-ease of use, installation, comfort, etc. I had one first and loved it so I didn't bother to try a different one. If you don't have a huge kd, they use the seat for a long time so its not that expensive in the long run.

If you don't have an SUV or minivan, I've read somewhere that some britax seats are too large for certain sedans....
make sure the seat fits in your car.... bigger may be too big....

I registered for the Britax Roundabout because it rated really well in the Baby Bargains book. What's the difference between the 2? Just curious. Thanks!!

I was just going to type the same thing! We have one SUV and one sedan but actually did not go with Britax at all. At the time with DD Evenflo was actually ranked higher for convertible car seats and Peg Perego for infant car seats. Britax gets all the fame but IMO there are cheaper car seats out there that are just as safe if not safer in some cases. Do some research before you decide. We originally had the Britax and returned it after we found out that it was not the best one.
As far as registering for 2 expensive car seats, if you feel that Britax is the best one than yes I would. You want the baby to be safe in each car. So if Britax is the way to go for you then yes you should register for 2.

I was thinking of just getting a second base for the carseat to go in the second car.

We registered for an extra base for our car seat. Our ILs bought us the travel system and the extra base.

She means the convertible though...the big mamma jamma.
I would register for both if you are going to need 2 and it sounds like you will. If someone gets it great, if not you will probably get coupons, gift cards, and store credit for returns. I also registered for a Britax Declathon.

There is nothing wrong with registering for 2 big car seats. If the baby will be riding in 2 cars, he/she will need to be in a car seat! And Britax are one of the highest rated, so there is nothing wrong with you wanting the best for your baby! Just because it's on the registry, doesn't mean people have to buy it! I did find though, that many people liked the larger ticket items because they could go in on a gift with others, and they knew they were helping the new parents out a lot by buying something so necessary and so costly!

I did the same thing but changed my registry when I learned.....
The Roundabout is designed for children rear facing from five to 33 or 35 pounds and children forward facing from at least one year old and 20 pounds, up to 40 pounds
The Marathon fits children rear facing from five to 33 or 35 pounds and children forward facing from at least one year old and 20 pounds, up to 65 pounds.
So basically for a little more money you will not need to purchase another carseat if you go with the Marathon, but the Roundabout is only good up to 40 pounds, and you will definitely need another seat.

The Roundabout has the head pads and the Marathon doesn't.
The Marathon has side impact bars, and the Roundabout doesn't.
We want the Marathon.

Re: First Day Registering At Buy Buy Baby And Have A Quesion...
i registered for 2 marathons and my family bought both of them!
DS will be in both of our cars equally as much, so we both need a seat. i liked the features of that seat as well as the safety ratings
