For Those Who Had An IUI
Weird question but do sometimes worry that they made a mistake when processing your DH's sample? Meaning.........mixed up his sample with someone else's. I know they take EVERY precaution and I'm sure everything is fine and there is no need to worry but every now and again in the back of my head I just wonder..."What if??" What if they screwed something up. The sample was with them for 2 hrs. before I had the IUI. Anyway, I know this is a weird question but it's always in the back of my head and I was just curious to see what everyone else thought. Again, I know I have no need to worry but you can't help it sometimes.

Re: For Those Who Had An IUI
Its normal to feel this way. Where did you have your IUI done? I had mine done at North Shore and they are very strict with who they give the sample too. You have to show a picture ID and match the number to the "stuff" with what they have on record.
I would think that any facility would have to be very cautious otherwise they would have a big lawsuit on there hands.

Ditto. They make you sign and initial a ton of paperwork.

Re: For Those Who Had An IUI
Well we had a few IUI's and then IVF, but we kinda joke about this. I mean you hear the horror stories so you can just imagine the "what-ifs", but I know we had to check and double check the sample a gazillion times. It's a HUGE liability for the clinic so I am sure they are very strict.

I will agree with the liability thing too. Malpractice insurance is a HUGE expense for RE's and OB/GYN's for a reason.

Re: For Those Who Had An IUI
I have honestly worried that we were given the wrong sample! However, DH had to provide ID and the last 4 digits of his SS#. I have gotten over this fear.

Re: For Those Who Had An IUI
We got pregnant through ivf, and it really freaks me out to think of it, since we didnt just have my DH's sample, but my eggs!
They were very careful and everytime they spoke to us we had to read off a number/. match it off, so I feel better.

Re: For Those Who Had An IUI
Thanks for the replies...........I feel better knowing I'm not crazy!! We joke about it too but like I said, in the back of your mind you're always like, "Hmmmmmmm". But the RE was very careful. THey kept asking me my name, DH's name, SS#, they verified everything throughout and I signed papers so I'm sure it's all good. Just being a worry wart!! Thanks again!!!
