Re: hospital question

Which hospital? at NS Manhasset, DH was able to stay if he wanted to (in that chair) and he was able to come and go as he pleased 24/7.

Re: hospital question

I'm delivering at Beth Israel in NYC and they said DH can stay only if you have a private room. If it's a shared room, then no.

I would call the hospital and ask.

Re: hospital question

I delivered in LIJ in New Hyde Park, and he was allowed to stay the night DS was born, but every day past that he had to leave about an hour after visiting hours. Then again, I think it might have been because I had a shared room. Maybe in a private room, it would be different? Chat Icon

LOL Honestly, I don't see them giving him a hard time if he does stay.

I made my hubby go home and get rest. And then he brought me yummy breakfast the following morning. Chat Icon

They have private rooms there. So when you have your baby request one and your hubby can stay overnight. He does get that "recliner chair" (it hardly reclines), and also he can't shower there.

Just a suggestion....have him stay the first night and then have him sleep at home the second night so he can get everything ready for you and your baby...."welcome home"Chat Icon

At South Nassau, DH was allowed to stay overnight in L&D...but he wasn't allowed to stay overnight in the postpartum room as much as I wanted him there. However, he was allowed to stay way past visiting hours (visiting hours ended at 8 pm but he stayed each night till 11 or 11:30 pm).

Dont' be. I'm sure he'll be allowed to stay late, and return really early. Plus, you're going to need the most sleep you can get, so you'll be happy to have some quiet.

Yes, they do! with DC#1, there were alot of babies being born, so I put in the request for a private room the second we got there! lol with DD, I didn't have to because I had a shared room all to myself.

Which brings me to my next advice. Make sure to be extra nice to the RNs there. Make friends with them and the ones in recovery. I did and that's what got me that private room with DC#1 and that's what got me a roommate less room with DD. Chat Icon

I delivered at NS Manhasset with both #1 and #2. With this pregnancy (#3), I no longer live in NY, so it'll be down here.

I actually overheard the RNs talking about where to put some of the other moms in recovery. There was this one woman who was a real whiner (no offense to anyone of course) and they were looking for someone to pawn her off on LOL
