Need Help ASAP *Update*
Yesterday when I was at my parent's, they were talking about getting rid of their 2 cats. (because my teenaged sister is sick of taking care of them, but thats another subject entirely). I argued with them, but I got nowhere, so I just told them to make sure they go to a good home.
Before I left, I noticed my Dad standing with the front door open. I asked what he was doing, and he said he was getting rid of the cats. I asked what shelter was open that late, and he replied, "I'm just throwing them out the front door." So I yelled at him to shut the door, and he already got one cat out and the other was hiding.
So, I need to know how to lure the other cat back so I can take them both to a shelter (DH is allergic to cats so I can't take them in.) And, which shelter would be best?
I'm totally disgusted by my family. Really, sick to my stomach over that poor cat.
*I found the other cat. They're in my garage until I can find a shelter that will take them.

Re: Need Help ASAP
First of all, I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I think the cat that was let out will probably be trying to get back in at this point. My cat has snuck out a couple times and he's usually back at the door in an hour or so. As far as finding them a place, call around to different shelters to see if you can find someone. You could also FM Reggie and see if she can help you. I'm so sorry for you - it must have been heartbreaking.

Like Gerty said. The other cat probably is already trying to get back in. I am so sorry this happened.
I do hope you find a good home or shelter for them.

You poor thing! I give you credit for standing up against your family, I would too in your shoes. I also give you credit for taking the cats into your garage until you can find them a home. If those cats are housecats, they cannot survive on the street. What a horrible horrible thing to do to a house pet.
Like someone above suggested, FM Reggie to see if she has any suggestions. That is just heartless and terrible, I can't imagine any person with a heart of any sort doing what your dad did.

OMG I am so sorry you had to deal with that. I would have reacted the same way you did. I am so glad you found the other cat.
Maybe you can post pictures here and on petfinder to help find them homes.
How long did your family have these cats for?

Awwww... I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.
Have you tried calling Little Shelter or Kent Animal Shelter?
They're both no-kill shelters.

Re: Need Help ASAP *Update*
Our family cat got out once - but she was standing at the door before we noticed she was gone. They are super smart animals.
But - you could give it a try taking one in and see how your DH adjusts. I was extremly allergic to cats - sneezing runny eyes, asthma - you name it. My mom got a cat and I offered to watch her for a weekend. The more time I spent with her, the better I felt - Like I got used to her. So I decided to get a stray as well. It turned out amazing - my cat allergies are almost non existant. The constant exposure has helped my allergies (crazy... I know! But I adore my little cat!)
Good Luck!!!
