I have to take my cat to the vet and I really don't want to
I have the meanest cat on the planet, I really do. I adopted her as a kitten from a shelter about 6 years ago and ever since it has been a rough road. She hisses at anyone that comes within 2 feet of her. I'm the only person that she will allow close to her, but even then, she hisses and scratches at me periodically.
But, for the last week she has been limping off and on and yesterday I got just close enough to notice some kind of gash in her paw. I know I have to take her to the vet, but the idea of somehow getting her in the box, and taking her to the vet, where they will poke and prod her, and my skin will be torn to pieces in the meantime, is really not appealing.
Any advice?

Maybe lure her in there w/ a treat. Explain how your cat acts to the vet and maybe they can give her some type of sedative, so she won't claw you to death.

Where do you live? My vet comes to my house, but also works out of Hauppauge Animal hospital. My Molly hated the car and would howl the whole way and have accidents anytime I took her anywhere, so it was really a better solution for me with her. It does cost a little extra (I am not sure of the exact amount), but for me it was worth the $$$.
Good luck

You can call your vet and explain the situation; maybe they will give you some mild sedatives to calm her (I'm sure they'd rather have her sedated than wrestle with her and stress her even more).

The cat we had growing up was like that. We had one shot at getting him in a carrier and it took two people. One person held the carrier open and the other person would pick up the cat with a thick towel and get him in the carrier. He still screamed and tried to break away, but the towel helped prevent scratches.

My cat is the worst at the vet. She goes absolutely bonkers and has to be sedated just to get her out of the carrier. It's not pretty but the vets usually handle it pretty well. Just warn the vet and they might need to sedate her.
