IMO...i like something different looking. Makes me feel like it is a one of a kind, making it MORE special..
I would keep it. I think it is lovely!

First, I'd ask Rich how he feels if you were to exchange it for one you saw in the same store that you LOVED, but failed to mention it to him.
With that being said....I LOVE the one he picked out! It's so different and compliments your E-ring beautifully.
You have to wear it, therefore you must be happy with it.
You'll never know what he'll feel unless you ask....he might be like "Oh..there was one you liked better? Then you should have that one"

It sounds like he would be really upset. If you like this one I would keep it, the sentiment of DH picking it on his own should make up the difference.
I agree! Anything that comes from dh I know comes from the heart. I know its 'hard" but the quote above states my opinion perfectly.
BTW: May I have a Godiva.,..

Thank you ladies
Now I'm TOTALLY confused.
Today, out of nowhere, he says to me, "Lets go to the city tomorrow and pick up the ring that you loved."
Now I didn't say ANYTHING about this to him, he just came out with that statement on his own. What is WITH this boy?!?!?
We'll see what tomorrow brings now....

the first year DH and I were together, he bought me a pair of diamond earrings that I LIKED alot, but didn't go "goo goo ga ga" over. (On the other hand, Danielle gave me season 2 of Friends on DVD and I almost did cartwheels I was so happy!!)   To this day, he STILL brings that up!!! 
He was a little hurt that I wasn't completely thrilled with the earrings, but gave me the gift receipt and told me I could exchange them for something that I really loved instead. (once i got to the store, I couldn't bring myself to exchange them)...I felt bad, b/c he'd taken the time to pick them out, and put thought into it.  (and besides, they're diamond earrings!!!  )
i'd keep the ring if i were you. and just sweetly remind him that Valentine's day is around the corner!!

OK, we went today...I just got home.
I didn't exchange the ring...I personalized it a little bit.
Do you see the SMOOTH bezel around the rectangular sapphires in this pic?
I had the jeweler add antiquey milgrain (little bumps!) to the rectangular bezels, and now they look just like the bezels around the diamonds. Its a minor change to most people, but to me, it made all the difference, and now I absolutely LOVE IT.
 Plus I found a charm for my (currently naked) charm bracelet....Valentine's Day...Birthday...hmmm....Wisdom tooth removal PRESENT?!?!
 
I'm trying to get a pic of the new design, but its dark out and I can't get the macro to work so well on my camera. 
Thanks to everyone that helped!!!! Rich was happy that I LOVED something that he (initially) picked out...and he's even happier that now its a semi-custom piece and no one will have the exact same one! (like my e-ring  )
