What happens at level I ultrasound
I have an appt for April 10 where I will be almost 18 weeks. If the baby is cooperating will we be able to find out if it's a boy or girl? What else will they do at this appt?

Re: What happens at level I ultrasound
My doctor's office did not have the ability to do a Level II so the sono I had at 20 weeks looked just like the sono I had at 12 weeks, except they attempted to measure every part of the baby's body. They weren't able to get all the measurements so they sent me for a Level II at another dr's office.
eta: if the baby cooperates you might be able to see if it's a boy or a girl.

Re: What happens at level I ultrasound
Are you referring to a Level II ultrasound?
If so, they take every measurement imaginable of the baby. Head, arms, legs, torso, spine, etc.
If you will be 18 weeks and the baby is cooperating you will more than likely be able to find out the sex of the baby.
My 1st Level II took about 35 minutes. I had to go back because he wasn't cooperating completely, but the second Level II only lasted about 10 minutes.

Re: What happens at level I ultrasound
I had a level II at 19 weeks. They checked everything... limbs, measured head and body, looked at the heart, kidneys, liver, umbilical cord, fluid...I can't remember what else. It was pretty amazing. They also confirm the sex of the baby.
