Lovenox...anyone else?
Is anyone else on Lovenox while being pregnant? I have 1 shot per day until I am 36 weeks.
SOmeone told me that if you are on a blood thinner the ob prefers to do a c-section b/c they can control the bleeding....anyone been told this?
Of course, at the visit on Monday with the ob, I was so overwhelmed I forgot to ask, I will check next friday!

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
I was on lovenox my whole pregnancy. You have to switch to heparin about 2-3 weeks before delivery so that you can get an epidural if you want one when you go into labor (heparin has a shorter shelf-life than lovenox)
It is NOT true that you will 100% need a c-section but I was induced in order to know when to stop taking my heparin (so that I could have the epi) and I DID wind up with a c-section due to fetal distress, my dd was also a big baby (9lb, 8oz)
fm me if you want more info
the lovenox is really no big deal, alot of girls on here were/are on it

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
We just started lovenox and I have to take it TWICE a day!! Just curious, where did your dr. tell you to inject the shot? Hematogoist said arms and legs, arms are fine, but not liking the brusing, but legs hurt like hell!! Did not hear the c-section thing yet, but going to see OBGYN Thursday for the first time since the prescription...I will let you know what he says!

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
I was on Lovenox once a day from 8weeks to 36.5 weeks. Then I switched to Heparin to prepare for giving birth. At 39weeks I went in to be induced. My cervix was completely closed. They started me with Cervidel at 9pm and then Pitocin at 10 the next morning. My son was born at 6:25 that night. No c-section was needed. But he was a small baby. He weighed in at 6lbs 6.5oz. I hate to think how small he would have been if I wasn't on the shots. I started with shots in my legs but then my knee went numb so I switched to belly. The belly/love handle shots hurt much less then legs. I also iced before and after to minimize bruising. Good luck and the shots are not that bad. After the first couple weeks it just becomes second nature

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
I just found out that I need to use lovenox too and I am absolutely petrified! I went to my hematologist and I have to wait for my OB to confirm the dose he wants. I should start it some time this week, but again I am really scared, i don't like what I read about it

I hate needles to and was petrified. I have DH do them for me. My Dr said to rotate arms and legs. Not going to lie..it hurts sometimes and burns, but I just keep thinking of the baby and it only hurts for a minute or so.

I think what makes me the most nervous is what I read about getting a clot when you have an epidural. I don't understand why heperin is ok to switch too. I also am scared of it making me feel weird. I will do it of course, but the anxiety of having to do this is scary. I heard they burn, but it is a small price to pay.

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
I actually had a clot, thats how my drs found out about my clotting disorder..that was definitely scary.
I inject my belly twice a day, im not going to lie, it does hurt, but its not that bad..you have to do what you have to do.
My dr told me that the lovenox wears off in about 12 hours, so I will be induced, I can have my last shot 12 hours before induction and should have no problems at all. If I go into labor on my own, I might not be able to have an epidural, but there are other things they can give me to handle the pain. Again, the clot was scary, really scary, I spent a week in the hospital being moitored, I will take 2 pinches a day over that any day.

well that is what my fear is too. I have a family history of strokes at a young age. The weird thing is I am the only one who had some abnormal in their bloodwork! Most likely I will need another c-section, and I just have to relax and have some trust in the doctors. I also bruise if you barely touch me so I wonder what is going to happen if i really bang myself.
Having a clot must have been really scary. Did you have it in a leg or lung or the placenta? This is where the doctors wold me they could develop and the signs for me to watch for in the leg or lung. Very scary. But thank you for the information, it makes me feel better.

I am an easy bruiser too, and it really hasnt been so bad, I have bruising at the injection sites, but thats really it. I do get wicked headaches though..
My clot was in my leg, it felt like I pulled a muscle, my leg was really sore, the next day, I noticed my skin was purple and red, and it hurt even more than the day before, so I went to the er. I get my blood checked every other week now, to check how its clotting, and if my meds need to be adjusted.

So you take 30 two times a day? I think the dose I will start is 40 once a day.

Re: Lovenox...anyone else?
My doctors are discussing whether I should have 1 40mg shot a day or 2 30mg shots.
