New Movie 21 out this Friday
Is anybody else stoked about this movie? I really can't wait to see it. I read about the MIT students in a Social Engineering book and though it would make a good movie. Tell me what you think.
****Disclaimer: The movie doesn't have a dog in it. No you can't bring your dog with you to see it. Also you can't leave your dog in the car at the movies while you watch it.**********

I read the book "Bringing Down the House" which is what this movie is based on. It was a great book, so yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.
I wonder if they did the book any justice? I HIGHLY recommend reading the book, it was a VERY fast read.

I read the book the movie is based on (Bringing Down the House). Didn't care for it at all, but I think it was the fault of the writer rather than the story.
ETA: I see I'm in total disagreement with the PP.

I liked it better the first time I saw it when it was called Rain Man
I am looking forward to seeing it too. I saw the real story on Biography or History I forget but it looks really good. My brother read the book hoping to get some counting card secrets he wants to take on Vegas.

Honestly, it's a TOTALLY different story. Rain man was a complete work of fiction and really the Vegas scenes were only PART of the movie and its message.
21 and Bringing Down the House is a true story based on actual events involving MIT students who got into card counting and making a bundle doing it.

I just thought the writing style was flat and lazy. Amateurish, even.
Also, given the title, I expected to read that this group caused a MAJOR blow to Vegas casinos. Counting cards isn't all that novel or brilliant.

I would watch Kevin Spacey read the phone book, so yea, I want to see this movie.
The book was excellent so I'm hoping it lives up to that.

Well, yes, I suppose the language was a bit simple (hence the ease and speed in which I read it!) but I to say they didn't cause a major blow to vegas is a bit of an understatement to me.
They cost casino's around the country millions of dollars. That's huge for the gaming industry.
To say counting cards isn't novel or brilliant? Well, I'll say this much... Maybe someone with a strong mathimatical mind would find this task easy but I know I wouldn't be able do it and I don't know many who could.
