Re: belly injections

I always said I didn't think I could give myself an injection but after the first few times it does get easier. It's still not fun, but it gets easier to do.

Good luck!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: belly injections

I think the Gonal F shots are the easiest - it has the thinnest needle. I have given myself dozens of shots in the belly and the weirdest thing is watching the needle go in and not feeling it. Just pinch the skin together and then inject.

Good Luck!

Re: belly injections

I'm a huge baby when it comes to needles and I Have to agree- they aren't that bad. DH gave me most of them but 2 nights he wasn't home and I did give them to myself.
We've gotten into the habit of using an ice cube to numb the area first and then using the sterile wipe and then doing the injection. Then apply gauze for a minute and you're done!!! GL!

Re: belly injections

after you do the first one you will think it is no big deal. it's mainly the anxiety leading up to the shot. good luck, you will be fine. Chat Icon

My DH gave me Follistim injections last month. It wasn't bad at all. I never bled and never got a bruise.

Re: belly injections

The first time I did the gonal-f I really freaked out. I was only prep-ing it and no liquid came out (I did the pen). And i needed to prep again, but was scared to. then when it was time to inject I really freaked out. got the courage somehow, stuck it in my leg (too scared for the stomach area)...I felt nothing. I couldn't believe what a baby I was. It is much easier now. I actually prefer the shots because I cannot swallow a pill.

good luck!Chat Icon

Re: belly injections

i did get cramping one night especially- I was walking and I cramped up so much that I almost fell. DH ran over to me and I leaned on him to get back to the car so I could sit... it wasn't pretty...
Hope you feel better soon! Chat Icon
