LOVE-ly

so i called personnel to find out about maternity leave (and was told it's now child care leave Chat Icon )

turns out that i get up to one year unpaid (knew that) and 12 weeks of paid health insurance. um, that stinks! it means the baby and i would have to go onto DH's insurance if i stay out longer than 12 weeks - which is inexpensive but not free like my job. Chat Icon

ok, i know i shouldn't be complaining b/c not everyone gets free health care but i was just a little surprised at this. glad i know now!!

the good news is, it looks like if i come back at 12 weeks, i can request to come back at 3/5 time for the remainder of the year of my child care leave, but it has to be approved by our director. if we can make this work financially we will definitely do this - it will probably be cheaper than child care!

Not to sound like a beeotch but you should be happy about all of that. It's not a bad deal.

Everyone's situation is different. I'm sure she wasn't prepared to get that news.

LBC - you are a smart cookie for calling so early. I however can't get HR to get back to me. She's "busy" with her own leave. Chat Icon

stupid cow. how dare she not cater to you!!

i know i sound like an ungrateful beyotch, but i was really surprised at that news. my leave is totally unpaid, so i figured they would at least give me my health insurance for as long as i needed it.

yes they pay me all my sick and vacation time if i want to take it - i'll have about 20-30 days total, not nearly 12 weeks worth. plus i don't qualify for disability so that's out the window.

how much time are you taking?

that shoudln't have anything to do with you receiving NYS disability. It's rediculous- like $160 per week, but you should be entitled to it.
