its not only women who do this to each other... it's PEOPLE doing it to other PEOPLE. Men to women, men to men, women to men.
don't fall for the mysogenistic dogma. If men are @holes, many people will either dismiss it without another thought, or call him 'agressive' or 'assertive'. If women say the exact same obnoxious thing, they are '*******' or 'hyseterical'.
Overall, the bar has dropped on social decorum.... it is now accepted when people are overly familiar and confrontational / critical to strangers. It's our society's laziness related to acceptable public behavior that is to blame...
It is NOT some nasty recessive gene in the X chromosome.
please love thy fellow woman! Most are deserving of it. When you discover a rude one, just eliminate her from your life. she'll likely be too busy with her rude husband anyway

No, 'nuff is not said. Yes, those women were *******. But not all women are. And the fact that "*****" has become an acceptable term to call one another is really sad to me.
I find it so sad that so many women feel this way. This is why women don't want to work for other women, and women will never have the power in society that men do.
You have to remember, there are still a select few spots at the top for women. And for women a few years older than us, those spots were even fewer. You had to be better than any man and every woman to succeed. Those women are called *******.
Girls spend so much time climbing the social ladder- and the only way to do it is to cut other people down. I dread having my daughter deal with this when she grows up, no matter what side of that ladder she falls on. And so many girls grow up with that same insecurities and become the women you just described.
And you know what, we are the ones to blame! We fight over SAHM/Working mom, breastfeeding/formula feeding. We judge one another ALL THE TIME. And its done on here too! We complain why someone made a dumb comment at the grocery store about something we did/said to our children, but we then turn around and post on a thread on why a SAHM would put her kid in daycare???
I HATE it the way women cut each other down. I HATE it the way we judge one another. If women could deal with one another the way men do, and support one another, we coudl be so much better off!!!! Look at these political scandals! When did you see a woman of power in a sex scandal? But since we can't unite because we are too busy bickering about BF and saying all women are ******* men have all the power.

IMO, I don't think this is totally true either... it's another stereotype. Many women in positions of authority are very supportive of other women. There are a few that cut people down, but then again, there are just as many men who do that.
I've had the luxury of being around a good deal of 'power women' during my career..... and have had difficulties with only ONE (a rather low ranking woman). On the flip side, I have had problems with 3+ men.
I honestly believe the glass ceiling is maintained by these horrible stereotypes.....

I think though its just these women who acted that way and there are a group of them everywhere, a small section of woman are catty and gossipy.
BUT others do it in a different way and I think its just as bad.
I think anyone who talks about another person for selfish reasons, curiosity etc is the same as them, just doing it in a different manner.
I for one know Im guilty of making fun of people, talking about them etc and I know its done to me ...

Okay, it is an unwritten rule that there are personal spots in every group fitness class. Why else do you think everyone runs in when the previous class is over. If I don't have my usual spot it disrupts my whole workout! Yes, I am a loser but I'm not one of those b*tchy gym girls.

I work in an environment mostly made up of woman and the b!tching, backstabbing, gossiping that goes on is unreal.....
I know not all woman are like this but frankly in the course of 18 years of working it has been my reality far too often

I'm the same way about my spot too! But I'd NEVER be b*itchy about it. I just move and deal with it. but it is true...you get comfortable in one spot...whether it be the lighting, how close you are to the instructor, which side of the mirror you're on, if you're lefty or righty- I STILL can't explain why it is...I guess it's just habit! I'm glad someone else feels the same way...at least someone who's not a b*itch about it! I've had MANY girls give me the eye or huff and puff if I get in their spot (when I join a new class). How am I to know?!
Those PEOPLE in the OP are disgusting. I'd try not to say it's just women because men can be nasty too. (Try being on a machine that a guy wants to get on...I've had many a nasty encounter!) I'm sorry you have to be in a class with such rude people, Leigh.

It's things like this that make me not have many female friends and keep my cards very close to the vest when dealing with women. I've been burned too many times with Deb said this and Deb said that and half of what people think I said is either twisted around or taken out of context.

I hate when women act like that! Thank goodness I was blessed with a sharp tongue for occasions like that, lol... even if it gets me in trouble at times (especially when I was in elementary school).
I think about my daughter having to put up with people like that when she gets older... I hope she inherited my tongue
