Vacation time....
I just got an email from my boss telling my department to take our vacation before Sept...isn't this wrong to do?
It's our vacation time we should be able to take it anytime we want!!
This email just put me in a bad mood!

some places make u take a % of it--but ALL OF IT seems crazy to take b4 Sept.

I can not take vacation any time from Jan - April 15th because it is our busy season.
DH can not take his vacation from THanksgiving to New Year's.
I don't think it is illegal, just a pain in the butt.

I know of several businesses that do not allow vacation time in the 4th quarter.

My DH really can't take time from Jan-the middle of March.
I remember at my old job, we were not allowed to take off the last week of Aug. leading into Labor Day Weekend

In other positions, I had restrictions on my vacation time.
Are you going to be busy in the 4th quarter with something out of the ordinary?

No I know 4th quarter is our busy season but I guess its just annoying to put restrictions on our vacation time!

No I know 4th quarter is our busy season but I guess its just annoying to put restrictions on our vacation time!
At my last company (awhile ago) I only got off 2 weeks of vacation and had to take them together (it was a bank). We could only take off the last two weeks of the month and we couldn't take off Jan-Mar. Then - they factored in seniority so basically you were told when your vacation would be - it stunk!

I hate when companies suddenly change the rules on you. You should seek out some HR guidance- see if your newly revised handbook mentions whether you can opt to be paid out for time not used by September.

Actually I'm having an issue from an HR prespective now. We are telling our employees they need to take their vacations by their anniversary date.
While we can't take away vacation time in California, we can dictate when they can take it.
To be honest, I think it's fair that they gave you ample notice to do it.
