Re: wombs for rent

Just curious to why you find it weird?

I think it's a fantastic (even honor) to do something like this. I personally could not do it, but the benefits that come from it are immeasurable....a family that cannot have a child can have one through a surrogate - nothing out of the ordinary there.

Re: wombs for rent

I read about this quite some time ago, and I don't think its weird at all. The women for this program are very carefully selected and well taken care of. IVF and surrogacy is extremely expensive here in the U.S. If these women in India are willing to help a couple to have a baby a couple so desperately wants, I don't see a problem with it. And the compensation paid to the Indian women is greater than anything they can make doing anything else.

ITA. Oprah did a show a while back about this where they followed a couple to India on their journey to finally have a child after years of fertility treatments.

One of my work colleagues is currently pregnant with a child for a Danish couple, she has a child and does not want another one and she wanted to do this for another couple who were unable to have children of their own. I think its wonderful.

I would lend you my womb. With the increasing costs of NYC rentals...a one bedwomb in a nice neighborhood for 9 months, that will be about 3K per month. Call me for more information on the rental. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think it's wonderful. I do know someone who went through IVF and everything she could possibly go through. Never worked.
They had a surrogate and it's awesome to see her as a mommy now.Chat Icon

Re: wombs for rent

I LOVE this idea. People are up in arms about exploiting the Women...well thats what American Surrogates do, and these women GAIN whats equivalent to SOOO much money here in the US. Why shouldnt someone help someone there rather then pay crazy prices here for someone to do the same.

I applaud this. These women have Free will.

Re: wombs for rent

I support it for all those who can do it. I think it benefits both the biological parents as well as the surrogate. What an incredible sacrifice these women in India make so that their existing families can live a decent life.

Re: wombs for rent

I read some of the comments on the actual article and I have to say that a lot of them made me very sad and a little bit sick.
