BTDT Moms--What did you need, but didn't have?
I just got my coupon from BRU and want to get all the last minute stuff. There is not much on my registry left and I can't think of much else that I need. What are the things that you didn't have when DC was born so you either had to run out and get or always wished you had? It can be big or small items. TIA!

Re: BTDT Moms--What did you need, but didn't have?
I needed a nipple shield to help DD latch on.
We had to go buy slow flow nipples for her bottles because I needed to supplement my BF'ing with some bottles in the beginning.
Dreft Stain Spray for the leaks and spots. I find that nothing gets poop stains out better.
I bought more little white washcloths after the first week. They are soft and easy to wash so I used them as wash cloths and as burp cloths to wipe DD's face.
Make sure you have lanolin if you plan to BF. I didn't expect to need my pump right away but DD had trouble latching on so I'm very glad I had it.
Other than that we had everything we needed, the changing stations were both set up, all of the bathing supplies were set up. Clothing and blankets were all ready.
The main thing I will do differently for next time is prepare and freeze as many meals as I can and have lots of light foods and soup available for me to eat. I had some complications and lost my appetite so it would have helped to have been better prepared in that way for me.

sort of silly, but all of a sudden it was summer, I had a six month old and a pool.
I bought a ton of different hats, swim diapers, swim shirt, scalp protector, sun screen...cost me a lot.

If you plan on BF buy cream for your nipples and take it to the hospital with you. Trust me you will need it. Other things I had to buy in the first couple of weeks were bottles to store the milk when I pumped, nursing pads, extra changing pad cover (I found 3 to be a good amount), obviously diapers and wipes, mylicon, maxi pads for you-you will bleed for a couple of weeks.

Re: BTDT Moms--What did you need, but didn't have?
Bottles - I thought I was BFing, didn't work out, had to get more than what I had
The white side snap t-shirts. I was so afraid of having to put shirts over his head the first few weeks.
Extra bassinet sheets - have three, one in the wash, one on the bed, one in the closet, we went through 3 in one day once.
Pacifiers. I had a book wishing well, so no one bought us any of these for the shower.
More socks. I still need more socks. They mysteriously disappear in the wash.

More socks. Ones that all look the same so you don't have to worry about matching them.
More P.J.s/sleepers so I didn't have to do laundry every 3 days.
Extra breastmilk storage bottles/bags
Snacks, snacks & more snacks - I was SO hungry that first month and a half.
More burpcloths.
