What would you do?
I just had back to back IUI and am now 11 dpo. I am praying and hoping this is it, but if not, my obgyn had discussed the following plan with my dh and I:
If this IUI doesn't work, he recommended doing two more months of unmedicated IUI's(I ovulate on my own).
If these next two months are a failure, he advised one of two things:
1) Have laprascopic surgery on my right tube. BACKGROUND: When I had my HSG, my left tube was fine. On the right side, the dye went up, but the xray didn't show it spilling out. He also said that he is not too concerned about blockage, since the xray showed that the tube was straight. But, he did recommend getting laparscopic surgery done to really see what's going on in there. He said that there could be some scar tissue, etc that he could try removing or it could be totally fine.
2) He would send me to an RE to start medicated IUI's.
I asked him what he recommended doing first and he said the surgery. What do you girls think? Should I get a second opinion or does it seem like this is the way to go?
Thanks so much for you help!

Re: What would you do?
I was there too. HSG said right tube was blocked and they thought there might have been some scar tissue. They did the laproscopy surgery, no right tube blocked and no scar tissue. Thus waisted another month. Not to mention the time off work and putting my family out to take care of me for a few days. Get a second opinion. I didn't think to do it because my GYN sent me to the RE's office to have the surgery. HSG isn't always acurate. If your hips are slightly tilted you could have false results (like mine). Good luck.

Re: What would you do?
I think that doing unmedicated IUI's is fine as a first line of treatment. The progression to more aggressive treatments is to move on to medicated IUI's with Clomid and then injectables. If that doesn't work, then IVF is indicated. I would consider moving over to a RE now since you are already in the realm of IF treatments and they really are the experts.
As far as surgey goes, my RE recommends doing IVF instead of laproscopy since it bypasses so many IF problems and gives you a good chance of getting pg. GL!

Re: What would you do?
You might want to consider an RE instead of a GYN for all of this. They are specialized.

ITA w/ this. My RE had us try clomid first for 3 months, raising the dose each time- then we moved to medicated IUIs. I def. think an RE is the way to go- at least for a 2nd opinion.

Re: What would you do?
I agree with everyone definitely RE, especially if you have a "limit" to your treatment with your insurance. I had a diagnostic laprascopy by RE for possible endometrosis ablation, tubal lavage and to check for adhesion

Re: What would you do?
One thing to consider is that surgery can sometimes cause scarring...good luck whatever you decide
