Since we spend a lot of money on our clothing, we should treat them right, right? So what tips do you have?

I wash them inside out.

I use the delicate and low heat settings for sweaters and other things that require it.

I air dry my bras - they def last a lot longer this way

I don't wash something just b/c I wore it once. washing clothes too often can ruin them and shorten their "life".

eta: I also use cold water to wash everything. I think I have only used warm or hot water once, and that was for muddy clothes.

I dry clean my "good" sweaters and all of my dresses. I wash my jeans inside out, cold water on the gentle cycle. I air dry a lot of stuff too--even my favorite t-shirts. I should get some woollite, but I just use ALL.

Honestly...we have the new front load washer and dryer and I the washer alone doesnt ruin my clothes. The old ones with the spindle in the middle that your clothes spins around ruins them. I also wash my good clothes inside out. I dont put anything in the dryer except for my pj's, t-shirts, underwear, socks and that type of stuff. My good clothes get hung to dry and than I fluff them in the dryer.

anything "good" goes to the dry cleaner

otherwise I send my laundry out- so I don't have much control

I want one of those fancy washers with the steam when I finally buy a house

i wear most of my clothes a few times before washing
change into "home" clothes when i get home so i can do this
i dry clean my jeans before washing them for the first time - saw this on Oprah and it definitely works. just dry clean them once and after that you can throw them in the wash.
i air dry my bras, sweaters and jeans
i bleach my whites every time i wash them and soak them for a half hour in bleach followed by washing them with regular detergent
