Mattituck HS on lock down
Mattituck Junior and Senior High School in lockdown
(02/29/08) MATTITUCK - Mattituck Junior and Senior High School is in lockdown Friday.
The school's Web site says a situation arose that may be deemed as a threat against the school. The posting says that authorities have been notified and are actively involved with an individual.
The school says there will be heightened security and that students' backpacks may be searched.
Students will also not be allowed to leave the campus Friday for lunch.

School On L.I. Open Despite Threat
Mattituck Junior-Senior High School Students Being Searched
MATTITUCK, N.Y. (AP) ? School officials in a small district on far eastern Long Island have instituted heightened security measures following what they described as "a threat against the Mattituck Junior-Senior High School."
A statement posted on the Mattituck Cutchogue School District Web site said authorities have been notified and are "actively involved" with an individual. It did not elaborate.
The statement said "while the validity of the threat has yet to be determined," the school remained open Friday, but students were subject to backpack searches. Juniors and seniors, ordinarily permitted to leave school during their lunch hour, would be required to remain in the building.

ok- now news 12 is saying it was a 16 year old student threatening to hurt teachers--- he was suspended yesterday.
Also, they've had several complaints against him in the past.

Security Alert
A situation has arisen that may be deemed as a threat against the Mattituck Jr./Sr. High School. Authorities have been notified and are actively involved with the individual. While the validity of the threat has yet to be determined, school will be open on Friday, February 29th and heightened security measures will be in place. These include, but are not limited to, backpack searches and closing of the campus during the lunch hours. This means 11th and 12 grade students will not be permitted to leave the building at lunch time.
