Anxiety and infertility don't mix
Boy, today is a rough day. I am currently on CD 10, from CD 3-7 I was on 50 mg of clomid, and from CD 8-12 I am suppose to take 3 mg of Estradiol 2 times a day. Well for the last three days on the estradiol I have had a headache on and off. Today the headache is pretty bad, but took tylenol and still went to work, well while at work I started getting anxious and freaking out about it and side effects, I pretty much caused myself to have an anxiety attack. (my poor teammates don't know what hit them) So now I am waiting on a call back from the doctor and trying to calm myself down. Luckily the reading teacher was nice enough to take my class for me. I don't know how I am going to handle this if I ever have to go on stronger meds.

Re: Anxiety and infertility don't mix
I'm sorry you are having such a bad day I felt the same as you at first. I'm a very high strung anxious person to begin with, throw IF in the mix and a horrific fear of anything medical related, it was not pretty. I'm not going to say it gets easier as time goes on, it does not. But I will say, 10 months ago, I told my husband, if we didn't get pregnant naturally we had some talking to do because I couldn't handle the doctors appointments. Fast forward to our first IUI, then our 2nd, 3rd, etc...and I told DH if the IUI's don't work we need to talk because I am certain I cannot handle the emotional and physical aspects of IVF. Well, here I am at the start of an IVF cycle and honestly while I'm nervous about the actual procedure, I am the most calm and relaxed I've been through this entire process. I am in complete awe of myself these days because I never thought I'd be as ready for this as I am.

Re: Anxiety and infertility don't mix
I wasn't on estradiol, but this whole IF thing is pretty stressful all around. We've all had our moments and the drugs don't help with our hormones going crazy. Try something relaxing. Play some yoga music (or try to take a yoga class, they have them on cable on the "on demand" channels if you have IO). Walking helps but it's Freakin Freezing out there. Acupuncture usually helps me calm down (but it's not for everyone). Taking a day off work might help also, if you can. Take some deep breaths and write to us all here, we know what you are going through.

Re: Anxiety and infertility don't mix
Thank you for all of your support ladies. My dr. called back and said the headache is normal, but to cut back on my dosage of estradoil. I think I may just skip it though because I am only suppose to take it for two more days, and its just to help my lining. I am going to a new dr. on the 13th who specializes in PCOS and fertility so I am not too concerned if it doesn't work this cycle especially since this is my first medicated cycle. Thanks so much! It's good to "talk" to people who know how I feel.

Re: Anxiety and infertility don't mix
I know how you feel. It is so stressful and I am a very anxious person. I also have PCOS. I am also on CD10 and completed my second round of clomid. I am nervous b/c last month after I had my internal sonogram my Dr. said I had about 7 eggs. Then 2 days later he gave me a shot of Ovidrel. He said you usually ovulate about 24 hours later. I ended up ovulating early the next morning I tested b4 work and then when I got home from work I tested again and I was not ovulating. I went back today for my internal sonogram for this cycle and again I have some eggs. Hopefully, Sat. he will be able to give me a shot of ovidrel again and it will work. He was concerned that my ovulation didn't last. I didn't regularly ovulate in the past. Since I have been on the metformin and clomid I now ovulate. It is stressful b/c all this med. makes me so sick and emotional and I teach as well and I find I have no patience for the kids. I would love to hear about the dr. you are going to. Good Luck.
**What is the estradoil you are taking? What is that for?

Re: Anxiety and infertility don't mix
I am sorry you are having a rough day. I tend to be a bit on the anxious side too and IF has brought it out even more for me. I noticed that Clomid made me incredibly anxious and depressed so don't be alarmed if you feel unlike your normal self. I also had terrible headaches from Clomid. My worst side effects were during the 2WW. Once the Clomid was out of my system, I felt better. Oh, and as far as the stronger meds go, I had zero side effects on Follistim which is an injectable. Hang in there!

The estadoil is estrogen, and its suppose to thicken your lining since clomid thins it out. I stopped taking it, and my headache is gone. Anyway I am not sure if my DR. will be of any use to you since I am in VA. His name is Dr. Greenhouse
