no, I think the company has to be prepared knowing it is coming...and the hospital needs to be prepared as well.

it may vary with the hospital, but I think you need to know ahead of time to bring the collection kit with you.

I was told you need to know ahead of time... they send you a kit which you need to bring with you and then call them and they take care of it from there

No, you cannot. You need to enroll with a company and they will overnight you a cord blood collection kit. The hospital will not provide you with this.

I think if at the last minute you changed your mind you can do it. My friend had pre-eclampsia and had an emergency C-section almost a month before the baby was due and right then and there in the hospital they decided to do the cord blood banking and it was not a problem. That being said though........I would probably make a decision before then just to be safe!!
