Signing Cards or notes or whatever

Do you always sign with your name and dh's (and DC, if applicable) or just the person signing the card or note or what have you's name?

I rarely sign DH's name (except Christmas cards and house present thanks you's). If DS is going to be a part of it, I write out his name and the let him scribble as if he were giving out his autograph.Chat Icon

Also, if you do sign both your names do you trip over the I and the We in the note itself?

Birthday cards to mutual friends and family I always sign both our names. Cards to my parents I sign our names and our doggies name Chat Icon

If it's a card to one of my friends (birthday or other) I sign just my name.

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

Except for cards to DH, I usually sign both of our names. If it's from all of us I'll print the kids names and then let them scribble in it too.

But I really don't send out cards except for Christmas and birthdays and stuff like that.

One of my mom's closest friends has a really strong relationship with her DH. She always signs their names with no space (like scottcathy) as though they are one person. I always think it's nice that she feels that way about their relationship.

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

It really depends on who I'm writing to and what it is I'm writing (if it makes sense to be from both of us or just from me), but DH actually likes to sign his own name if he's there to do it and it's from both of us. He threw a fit once because I signed his name. Chat Icon Little did he know this now means he gets to help with all the Christmas cards, birthday cards, thank you cards... Chat Icon

And I always have a hard time remembering to write "I" or "we" when we're both signing a card. I mess it up a lot!

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

We just sign each others names normally. Butthen again we normally only have Christmas and birthday cards. Cards for our mothers are seperate deals and individually signed

ETA: for mothers day and their birthdays. all other holidays are both of us

I sign everything from Anthony, Matilde and Brutus Chat Icon

ESPECIALLY in cards for my cranky old Italian family members who think that dogs shouldnt even be allowed in the house Chat Icon

and i have a hard time remembering the "we"

DH signs cards to me with his name and then lets Brutus take a nibble out of the corner Chat Icon

I think that is cute. We add a little sticker with paw prints when we sign the cats names.

For gifts, etc either have him sign his name, I'll write his name (if he's not around)...or for thank yous where he refuses to sign his name, I write...

Barbara & DH (who is too lazy to hold a pen & sign for himself).

Barbara & DH (who refuses to write thank yous as he was raised by wolves)

& on & on & on. I'm very passive agressive.

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

I sign both of our names, even if it's a shower or something where I'm the only one attending. The gift is still from the both of us. If DD is around I'll ask her if she wants to write her own name since she likes signing in script.

ETA: Sometimes I'll add the dog's name too, depending on the recipient.

Also, if it's going to his family I write:
Kevin, Cindy, and DD
If it's my family I write:
Cindy, Kevin, and DD

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

For anything I'm sending my family, I just sign both our names. But DH has this family tradition that all members of the household sign their own names. DH would rather send a card late and make sure he makes me sign it, then just sign my name for me.... Chat Icon

Re: Signing Cards or notes or whatever

Sometimes when DH is writing out a card, he'll ask if I want to sign my name. I don't see the point. I tell him just to sign my name.
