Oh OK- so it's something like- if it's a problem, you know about it? My doctor's office doesn't exactly over inform me.

They check to see what your levels are via ultrasound. If your levels are too low (meaning you will go into labor soon), or they are normal, they will tell you.

Re: measuring amniotic fluid?
yeh, the sonographer only told me because i had more fluid than normal, if i had a regular amount she probably wouldn't have mentioned the fact that she measured it...they never over informed me either, so i wouldn't stress it.

Re: measuring amniotic fluid?
I had my growth sono on Saturday and tech measured the fluid and said it was ok. I'll confirm it with my doctor the next time I'm there.

Re: measuring amniotic fluid?
You know I have a HUGE issue with doctor offices/insurance companies not allowing a sonogram every month. honestly you don't necessarily know if you have high or low amniotic fluid unless checked through a sonogram. Since I go each week to my High Risk dr. I always get a full work up bio physical on the baby and inside the uterus. I found out a month ago I have higher levels of amniotic fluid around the baby. Hence the reason why I am being induced along with Hyperemisis Gravadarum. my levels have gone up a bit, but not to the point where they are immediately concerned to take her out now. I can wait another 2 weeks. Well I hope, I'll find out more tomorrow.
I would go over this with your doctor and see how they check this without sonograms. Maybe call your insurance and see what you are entitled too as well.

Yup, that place doesn't offer out info very easily, I agree. I think I posted wondering this while I was pregnant too. I agree with the other posters, they'd tell from an ultrasound, or if you were having any other complications that may indicate high/low fluid levels, which then they'd do an ultrasound to check for.
