12 wk. sono and OB appt.......
........what can I expect when I have my 12wk. appt. in a few weeks? The OB said they will do a sono and check the back of the baby's neck for signs of Down Syndrome but what else can I expect that day? Any specific blood work that is done or other things they are looking for on the sono? Just wondering. TIA!!!

I think this one they prick your finger and take a blood sample as well.

sometimes they can tell you if it's a  or  if you want to find out.

I think some doctors are different in what they do, but for mine, they took 4 vials of blood, did a sono to check for fluid, and that was it i think.

I just had that one yesterday. They took vials of blood and they had a perinatologit do a sonogram to measure the folds on the back of the baby's neck. We could not determine gender.

OH YAY!!! WE DECIDED NOT TO FIND OUT EITHER!! It will be soe xciting when the day comes to have little  !!!!
Make sure you tell the tech before they start so they don't slip and say something

Yeah see they took vials of blood at 12 weeks for me and then did the finger prick at 16 weeks.

I have mine tomorrow. They told me an external sonogram and my finger will get pricked for some blood work. They will also talk to me about genetic testing.
