Do you use an Instant Messaging program... [Poll]

at work, to keep in touch with coworkers?

It was something my last company didn't want to do, for security and lost productivity. But my present company does, and I know a few other companies that do this as a means of internal communication.

Just curious. Chat Icon

At one time we were allowed, of course some had to abuse it so it was taken away.

Then MySpace was the new craze, it got out of hand and now the site is blocked.

Yes, we use AIM. We have few work from home people, so it is usefull. And we get alot of email, so you'll get a quicker response if you IM someone.

And we're too cheap to get some company specific software that serves the same purpose.

Honestly , my co-worker & I use it often to make snide remarks about our Opera singing customer service rep.

Yup! I signed up for meebo, which combines a bunch of them: yahoo, msn, aol, etc. So I don't have a zillion IM windows open. Chat Icon

We all have Macs so we use Adium which consolidates all the major IM services. We use it to communicate with each other and even some clients for quick questions.

We use AIM at work - most of it is honestly for work related things. Quick questions to coworkers, etc.
Of course there are a few "did you see what that beeeyatch is wearing, etc" We have code names for everyone.

Re: Do you use an Instant Messaging program... [Poll]

at my last job, we had the IM through lotus notes. more then half our department never registered. those that did, used it to chat, rather then for business purposes.

Re: Do you use an Instant Messaging program... [Poll]

We have an internal Windows Messenger, with a server inside our company to handle it. It comes in handy when you just want to ask a quick question, or ask if someone is available, or have a quick conversation. I use it pretty much every day.
