queston ... dilation and contractions
Ok so my doctor told me that once I get to 37 weeks which is in a week and a half if I start having contractions again they will let me keep having them. But i've seen from many of you that you were having contractions for a while and weren't dilated at all which so far is also me. Now the question is how long will they allow you to continue having contractions and not be dilatd. Will they induce you at some point or give you a c-section. Just don't want to be having contractions for weeks.

Re: queston ... dilation and contractions
Well..im due on saturday and have been having contractions for about 2 weeks now. They come on and off and somedays I dont have any at all . When I do get them, they are very mellow and dont hurt at all, just discomfort for a minute or two and then the release. You can tell you are having them, but you an also tell they are practice and not the real thing. My doctor has said that these contractions help you dilate. I have also heard that some girls dont dilate on there own at all. If that is your case, your doctor will discuss it with you after you internal exams. If they like the position of the baby and if the baby has dropped enough they might consider inducing you, if they think the reason you havent dialted yet is because the baby just isnt ready they may give you a few more days. Thats why in the last week they see you every few days and monitor your progress. Hope that helps!!

Re: queston ... dilation and contractions
I'm due next Thursday and they said that they will let me go to 41 weeks and then induce me.
I had contractions the whole time with DS as well. It's my body getting ready but i didn't have them baby enough to wind up in the hospital.
just recently I've been having terrible contractions and nothing but the doctor isn't worried because the baby isn't in distress.

Re: queston ... dilation and contractions
so basically I could wind up being in contractions for weeks.. ughh , and they (doctor and DH ) want me to stop working now so that I don't kill my body so instead of taking the 4 weeks I planned I might now wind up being off for 8 weeks which we soooooo can't afford. I just want this to be over and for the baby to be here.

Re: queston ... dilation and contractions
I worked while I was contracting but eventually I did develop preclamsia so had to go out at 34 weeks. I did have DS at 37 weeks though. You have to really take care of yourself. Resting might calm your discomfort and ease the contractions. The intense contraction could be from stress.
Take care of yourself.
