shower vent.... ughhh

Ok for those of you who are due in March or even April how many of you have had your shower already?
I don't know when mine is, I just am getting so upset. I'm currently 35 weeks 3 days and no sign of it, though my mother insists I am having one. I'd just like to know if it's going to be before or after baby. I mentioned this a few weeks back in a vent but now that i've started to have preterm labor contractions I'm like whatever I've had it. My friends are asking me if i'm going to be at my shower and I'm like ummmmm not sure at this point. I was just soooo looking forward to it and now because my mom is a nut case she is waiting till the day before I go into labor apparently and sees nothing wrong with this.

So for those of you due around my due date ... when did you have your showers and am I being totally unreasonable about all this. I'm already miserable and wanted to have fun not be like ughh at my shower.

My shower was only 4 weks before i was due and I was so upset that my Mom would make me wait that long

heh, I hate to say it, I told my mom the time frame for my shower

She admitted that she wanted to do it in may (I'm due at the end of sept.... that's a smidge early, I think ) then she said sept ... I said NO!

I think you want to nest thats how i was and they threw my shower 3 weeks before i was due needless to say it drove me nuts also. Im sure it will be soon maybe even this weekend? Do you have plans?

I'm due March 24th and I haven't had mine yet either. I don't mind that mine's so late...I actually like it better this way but that could be because I still feel good. I'm sure yours will be this month sometime...there's still 2 or 3 weekends left.

well the only big event planned that could be it is my grandfather's supposed surprise b-day party.. but its not for another 2 weeks still. I'll be 37 weeks 2 days so i'm really hoping that's not it because first of all I might not make it till then and also 37 weeks ... I mean geez she should have just waited to do it in the Labor and Delivery room. And yes I am starting to feel the nesting but with nothing to organize, wash, etc. I wanna pull my hair out. I clean the regular stuff but its just not the same as getting the apartment baby ready which I can't do without baby stuff... ughhhhh

I wouldn't stress too much over it. And be happy you are having a shower!

Hang in there, I'm sure its planned...heck it could even be this weekend and you don't know it!

My shower will be May 18th and I'm due July 2nd. My sister told me I wanted it too early, I told her tough luck. I didn't think 6 weeks before my due date was outrageously early.

If I were you, I'd just tell my mom that at this point in your pregnancy, you cannot handle waiting around for a surprise. While it's a sweet thought, a surprise shower at 36 weeks pregnant isn't exactly what you need - especially if you'd prefer not to go into labor at your shower!

See what she says. Hopefully she'll understand that you'd like to be prepared at this point.

I keep telling my mom how frustrated I am and she keeps saying its ok it will all work out. But she also realizes now that being that I am having preterm contractions I may not get to actually go and enjoy my own shower. We will see. I told her I would have preferred to have it like January, and she is telling me that is way too early which I don't agree with. Ughhh sometimes I can't deal with her.

I am due March 28 and my shower is this weekend (Feb 16). I will be 34 weeks and 2 days. I am glad it's later in my pregnancy... will make the last few weeks hopefully go by faster. Hang in there! I am sure your mom has it all planned

1st p/g my Shower was DEC 17th and I was due JAN 31-She arrived JAN11th

This time I am having a small family get together on March 30th and I am having her April 18th(c-section)

I am due April 16th and my shower is March 1st (I'll be 33 weeks).

I am due March 26th and had my shower on Feb 3rd. I think my mom would have planned it for a couple of weeks later, but my sister in law is having a c-section tomorrow, so it had to be planned before her babies arrival.....which I didn't mind at all.

I understand how you feel....I wouldn't have wanted my shower within 4 weeks of my due date. But try to relax, you will get everything done. We had everything set-up and washed within a week of my shower.

i know i can get it all done in a week but the problem is if its too late i'll actually be in labor any day after and if i don't have a chance to get everything ready before I go into labor i'll pull my hair out. my mom said she can do all the wash and setting up but that's not the point. If she'd given me time I wanted to enjoy doing all of that.

This is exactly why I insisted on not being surprised, and on being a part of the planning process.
I had my shower at 30 weeks, thank God.
