Those with Empire Insurance...
Do you pay a copay for visits? I haven't paid anything yet (for my initial visit, blood work, etc.) - they tell me I'm "fine". Am I going to be hit w/ a big bill????

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
I just got my welcome packet from Empire. As long as you are going to a center of excellence, there is no co-pay

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
If you have Empire - United Healthcare and are using a Center for Excellence - you pay nothing until you get PG.
Other Empire plans have co-pays.

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
I have Empire and pay a copay. Maybe it is my specific plan that I have to?

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
There are two empires.
Empire BCBS and EMpire provided by United healthacre. Different companies.
Also ALL plans have different benefits based on who your employer is.
For example, i may have a $20 co pay and you might have none or a $40 one.
SOme services my employer might pay for and yours doesnt and vice versa.
No one can compare insurance plans unless they work for the same company.

That's me - Empire/United Healthcare. Guess that's why I don't pay a copay (not that I'm complaining!)
So once I get PG, I will pay a copay again at my OBGYN, correct?

Again...United Healthcare Empire plan also varies from one Plan to the next based on employer( I worked for Health insuance)...but the Clinics are GOOD at telling you what the benefits are, b/c they want to make sure they get paid, so I would be confident in what they tell you.
All NYS insurances except a very few union plans have one intial Maternity copay and then NO copays for any routine ( monthly, then bi-weekly) maternity visits.

If you are NOT going to a Center of Excellence there is a co-pay, unless that dr. is OUT OF NETWORK...you have no co-pay.

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
If you are at a Center of Excellence then you don't have a copay at the office. When you get PG they will have you pay the copay for the sono(s) there. When you go to your OB afterwards they are well checkups and covered so no copay on that...just for sonos at your ultrascreen or Level II and any bloodwork you do at the labs.

Re: Those with Empire Insurance...
I have Empire and go to a center of excellence (LI IVF) so I don't pay any copays. I do, however, pay a $18 copay to the lab (either Enzo or LabCorp) for labwork. These bills are sent to my home and definitely add up!!
