cord blood banking - pricing
I know this can be expensive... anyone have exact prices and from which company's? My doc recommended viacord, any thoughts? I'd like to bank the cord blood, but cash is a bit tight.

I went with Viacord and it is between an 1800-2000 initial/start-up fee and $150 a year (My Dr. recommended Viacrod too)

Any financing plans or anything??? That upfront amount is a lot - espeically since it's hard to say what giving birth will cost until after the bills come in. My insurance company said they can't tell exactly what I'll be responsible for b/c it depends on the services rendered.

They do have payment plans avaliable I am pretty sure you won't have to pay the full 2000 at once if you go with one of the plans. If you call them there are extremely helpful and will send you a bunch of information!

I had it with them... I asked for some information when first becoming pregnant just to look into and although I did want to bank it's not feasable money wise even with a payment plan. But let me tell you every other week I get another packet, tons of emails and a million and one phone calls until finally I picked up and said we can't afford it please stop calling. Well that place did but I was looking into a few different places so I still am getting phone calls. I get the whole idea that it can be a wonderful life changing thing to do if your family needs it but ummm hello if I wanted to call them back I would have. Now they just have me annoyed. Sorry just needed to vent.

You don't have to pay it all up front. You can pay in monthly installments if you need to.

I'm doing Viacord too. I believe there is an option for 6 interest free payments of $337(or another plans that are a small interest fee).
