PCOS?
Is it usually possible to tell if you have this with a ultra sound? If you have normal Ultra Sounds, is it still possible that you can have it. I'm guessing they would have to do blood work.

Re: PCOS?
Yes. You can have polycycstic looking ovaries but not have PCOS. You need to have hormone levels checked out to confirm a diagnosis. PCOS is one of those things that encompasses a lot different symptoms and everyone who has it can be different.

I had a Ultra Sound and it was completely normal. I'm not TTC yet, but I was having other problems. I have really long cycles so the doctor mentioned PCOS. I was just wondering if it was still possible to have, if my ultra sound was normal. I guess I need the blood work done.

Re: PCOS?
Yes, I have PCOS based on my hormone levels, but don't usually show any cysts on my ovaries.

Re: PCOS?
Definitely have some bloodwork done to test for it. They may also want to give you a glucose tolerance test to look for insulin resistance.

Check out this website:
Soul Cysters They have a lot of information about PCOS. There is no definitive test for PCOS. There are indicators and if you have a few of them, it is suggested you have PCOS.

Thanks! I looked up the symptoms, and I only have two. So, I think I really need to have the blood work done to make sure.

Re: PCOS?
HI, I have PCOS. Found out today. I also have thrombophelia(blood clot) disorder. My problem is attachment and maintaining thee pregnancy. And, that's when miscarriage occurs. Doctor said about 60% chance in miscarrying with this disorder. Some people have trouble conceiving and maintaining the pregnancy. I read the symptoms. I never had any of them. The PCOS was detected through a sonogram and found by my perinatal specialist not my ob/gyn.
