Opinions please.
On Wed, I had five follies. 14 16 17 20 20
Thursday I had an hcg trigger.
How many of those are likely to be mature enough to ovulate this evening?
Do you think my chance of multiples is higher? I just want one, am a little scared of multiples. DH is praying for twins.

Re: Opinions please.
It is hard to gauge. The fact that you are doing IVf does run a higher risk of multiples. How many do you plan on transferring?

Re: Opinions please.
It is possible that only two follies matured so IMO you're not THAT high for multiples...although..if BOTH were fertilized and BOTH split then you'd have quads but what the heck are the chances of THAT?!

The chances of that would be pretty slim, I think!!

Re: Opinions please.
Anything over 16mm is considered mature (in an average woman) but that doesn't mean that all of your mature eggs will fertilize...not every mature egg is healthy enough to be fertilized (hence the need to use fertility meds to make multiple eggs)...
but 5 follicles sound very good and there is a chance for you to get multiples....my friend had 7 follicles and ended up with triplets!!!

Re: Opinions please.
by the time you have your iui i would say that definitely more than 2 follies will be mature. you definitely have more of a risk with iui for having multiples than with ivf. did your doctor talk to you about selective reduction?

definitely don't stress out about it, but on my last iui I had 4-6 good follies and that is something they discussed with me.

They told me 18-20 + is considered 'mature' so I think 2- maybe 3 of those would probably go (although if the 16 grows more too...) I agree- cross that bridge if you come to it.
