am I the only one who intends to keep the gender a secret...
.... until after the shower?
While we intend to find out the gender from my Dr... we don't want to tell anyone until after the shower. I feel like we have to do that to avoid receiving 50 pink or 50 blue outfits DH and I aren't into everything being very girly or boy-ish... We want a gender neutral nursery, and clothing that is a bit more neutral (not all lace frills and flowers, or boats, trucks, and sports).... although a handful of gender specific outfits would be fun...
I know probably the majority of parents prefer to keep things obviously boy or girl..... are we the only ones thinking this way?
(it would make for a great shower game boy or girl?! Guess the name!)

We actually feel the same way.....I want to find out the sex of the baby but I still want to paint the nursery yellow and pick out most items that are not really gender specific.

We did not find out the baby's gender so everything on our registry is gender neutral - lots of beiges, yellows and greens. We aren't into everything being all blue or all pink anyway - so this suits us just fine! I am sure once baby gets here we will get gender specific clothing for him or her... but does the color of a onesie really matter at this point?

I think most parents want that.... you're hardly alone...
I think the reason I'm like this is becuase when I grew up, my room was fairly neutral... green and white with touches of girly things... so this is what I'm accustomed to, if that make sense I also was the only girl with barbies AND hotwheels out of my friends... a lot of girls wanted to come over just so they could play with the hotwheels, I'm sure
at any rate, we don't mind the pink and blue, we just don't want everything for the baby (linens, toys, clothing, decorations) to be the same color....
actually, we're thinking about a red and white nusery

i am not sure about what we plan to do, i am 99% sure we are going to fnd out the sex but as for what colors we will be looking to paint the nursery and register for clothing-wise, that really hasn't been discussed yet.
but i just had to say that the idea of a red and white bedroom is terrific!! actually, it's well-know that red, white and green are the most "visible" colors a young baby can see, so those colors act as a great stimulus. it's also a cute color combo that could totally go either girly or boyish!

Re: am I the only one who intends to keep the gender a secret...
see we found out and I still registered for all neutral items because I feel the exact same way i'd rather just a few pink or blue things... well my mother went against my wishes and put its a girl on the shower invites so now i know i'm going to wind up getting tons of pink stuff which I really don't want especially since its not 100% that it's a girl and the last thing i'm going to want to do is exchange a milllion outfits.. we will see
