Just got back from an emergency visit with my OBGYN

Im currently having a visit from Aunt flo this is day 3 but it has been hell today abnormal bleeding and unbearable cramping and the clotting nearly scared me so I went in to see doctor.

Turns out my Fibriod are causing these horrible cramps. Doctor does not want to operate to take them out because of my age and the complications. He is telling me I can have issues with having a baby from the surgery. I just want these things out of me at this point.

Anyone have Fibroids? Some advice please

My GF has been diagnosed with Fibroids and her Dr. said the same thing. She has been getting heavier and worse cycles this past month. I hope things get better, maybe a pregnancy will help, I hear sometimes it unclogs the pipes, so to speak.Chat Icon

I just got diagnosed with one. The place it is in, may be the reason for my miscarriages. I am so reluctant for surgery due to complications. What did your doctor say could happen in the surgery with your fertility? This is what scares me.

Re: Just got back from an emergency visit with my OBGYN

I had a fibroid that was diagnosed at the end of February AFTER they originally thought it was an ectopic pregnancy (the fibroid may have contributed to the miscarriage). It really depends WHERE the fibroid is located. Mine was right under the first layer of skin in the uterus. As soon as DH and I started TTC I went to a high risk doctor because I was so worried about the aftereffects of the surgery, but my doctor said because they didn't need to cut through any major part of the uterus that I should be fine. The first month we TTC, I got pregnant and am now 15 weeks along.

My advice is to speak to someone high risk and let them know your concerns. They may need to run more tests to determine exactly where the fibroid is located and whether surgery could be harmful to your fertility on the flipside it might help.

I have 3 smalls one clumped together right behind the uterus. They said where is it located does not affect my fertility but the surgery might compromise my fertility. I have another appt in two weeks for my normal check up. I will discuss my options with my doctor on that visit. I may have just opt for the surgery because my cycles are getting far too painful.

Re: Just got back from an emergency visit with my OBGYN

I just had surgery to remove 3 finger nail size fiboids. I also have a huge one (size id a golf ball-maybe bigger) in the lining of my uterus. He didn't touch the big one, he just cortorized(SP?) it. I have been having extremely heavy periods from these fibroids. I hope my bleeding is more controlled noww We've been TTC for over a year now. I thought that mybe this would help. My doc has always said that I could get PG with them, but I wasn'r convinced. I just posted about this on the infertility boards.
I'm still confused and frustrated because no one (Docs) seems to know why I'm not getting PG. I hope this was the reason why and I will be successful in the future.
