I should buy organic more often- I will have to look into my budget. I do buy cage free vegetarian eggs, though- they're not that much more expensive.
I may just start hunting wild game... Victor almost hit a wild turkey with the train a few weeks ago. he did kill a hawk... I wonder what they taste like.
I am trying to broach the organic/free range price differential with the bomb.
oh,
i am a bow and arrow marksman (or was as a tween..it's probably like riding a bike)

Re: do you ever wonder what
ok without getting on my soapbox & let me start by saying I eat all kinds of meat, chicken & fish & I don't question my friends before i eat food they serve & I'm not weird at restaurants-but when it comes to what I buy I *TRY* to choose products that are more in line with how I feel. I raise chickens in my backyard & three of my hens are what you call "dual purpose breeds" meaning they lay great eggs but they would also make a great oven stuffer roaster. It took my girls 16 MONTHS to be full size, they have never had any antbiotics or steriods & they eat organically. A chicken raised by perdue or tyson or goldn fancy to be eaten is only alive for 45 days!!!!! They are able to get a chicken that in a natural setting would take over a year to mature to grow to "fullsize" in six weeks. I don't give a flipping shat what kind of bans the corrupt FDA has on steriod/antibiotic use, explain to me how they get those poor birds(they never see the light or day & will die of cardiac arrest if they are lucky enough to fall off a chicken truck) to get that big? I have friends from my chicken message board that have rescued broilers & battery hens & its a sad digusting sight. the truth about commercial poultry

Do you eat the chickens you raise or do you just use them for eggs? I agree with you on how disgusting the industry is. I don't question what my friends serve or when I am eating out either, but I have made the decision to only buy free range chicken.

OMG I would love for that ******* to die, but if I set Busey on him, I'm pretty sure we would be eating Busey for dinner.

I find the organic chicken is about 50-60% more expensive than perdue.

My girls are pets & egg layers, no plans to eat them. I buy free range, all natural, organic meat & poultry products as often as I can.

Come FLY with me, lesbian seagull...
Free range is 50-60% more than regular priced Perdue? and I only buy Perdue on sale, so we're looking at more like 85% higher in the chicken budget. I will have to cut back on my TP budget.

Speaking of, BM gave me a lecture on my conspicuous consumption of TP.

Well, I'm glad that you aren't having any issues in that area. You should give him lip over his abundant use of tissues.

What about a slaughterhouse? Seriously, I'm confused. Enlighten me. I always say that if I ever was to eat meat again, I would never -EVER- eat chicken/fowl.
Between the treatment and the smell - it is abhorrent.
