Went for HSG today and have a question..
I went for my HSG test today and my obgyn sent me to the hospital to have it done. It was a little uncomfortable and I felt a little crampy. As he was putting the dye in, he said that he could clearly see it go through my left tube, but couldn't make out if it was going through my right. I than asked him if it was blocked and he replied by saying that sometimes it's hard to tell on the screen and that he would put together all of the results, etc. and that my obgyn will take a look at everything and will follow-up with me. My question is, is it possible for the doctor not to be able to see my results on that monitor? He said that there is chance the right tube is fine... , but I am totally feeling like it's blocked?? Why wouldn't he have been able to see it on the screen?

sometimes you can have a spasm in one of the tubes, which would make it look like it was blocked.

Are you sure he wasn't just a technician? More than likely, he isn't qualified enough to be able to diagnose what's going on on the right side. Your GYN should be able to tell you more.

Oh, I just realized...did your actual GYN do the HSG? If so, then disregard previous post.

It sounds like a technician did the HSG and if so, he isn't qualified to tell you exactly what happened. Your OB will be able to tell you for sure and as another poster said your tubes can sometimes spasm which will affect the reading.

I am not sure what he was..I am assuming he was a doctor.. but, maybe you are right. It wasn't my regular obgyn who did this either..I guess I will have to wait until Monday to find out...ughhh..so frustrating..
Thanks for responding everyone!

I have read this before...I tried to stay calm, but it was almost impossible. My knees were shaking after the test...

Re: Went for HSG today and have a question..
I received my results one hour after it was performed....I received bad news...I would take it as a good sign that you did not get a call from your gyn right away. Think happy thoughts!
