Re: Vision correction?

I started wearing glasses at age 7 and then contacts at age 11. I mostly wear contacts because I see better with them but I love glasses as an accessory.

I'm very nearsighted with a bit of farsightedness and an astigmatism thrown in for good measure.

Re: Vision correction?

I'm a little iffy about getting Lasik. Tried contacts for a while, but my eyes were really itching, so I went back to glasses.

Even on my wedding day, I went w/o contacts and only wore my glasses at the end of the reception.

Re: Vision correction?

i wore glasses beginning in the 3rd grade- switched to contacts at 13yrs old.
i finally got the lasik intralase surgery last May-- 20/20 vision (mind you i was very nearsighted and had slight astigmatism)
In Oct. i began to notice that my night vision was not 100% couldnt make out the signs clearly and the lights bothered me also- halo effect- long story short i have to go in again since my vision is now 20/30- yes its great not having to use glasses/contacts but certainly not happy that i have to go in so quickly... especially since they will only do one eye at a time and have to wait 4wks to do the other eye---

I would like to have Lasik, but Kathy Griffin (the comedienne, and star of "My life on the D-List") had Lasik, and she won a lawsuit against the doctor because they did a really bad job, and she's either partially, or totally blind in one eye. I know that it is a very rare occurrence, and techniques and procedures have improved tremendously over the years, but I'm still nervous about it.

This is part of my concern... plus, what happens 25-30 years from now...

I know lots and lots of people get it and love it. But I just can't bring myself to risk it.

I wear glasses for distance. I got them in college.

I shouldn't admit this publically, but I've tried to get contacts many times. Several eye doctors have told me that I have freakishly large eyeballs and none of them have ever been able to find contacts to fit my eyes. I wore them for my wedding, my brother's and my BILs but it was really painful.

Re: Vision correction?

I've worn glasses since I was in the 3rd grade and I got contacts when I was in 9th grade.
Having Lasik is something I'm looking into doing in the next few years

Re: Vision correction?

I have scars from an infection on or close to my corneas which affect my vision. the only corrective measure I can take is to wear glasses.

I wish I could wear contacts or get Lasik...but alas, I cannot.

Re: Vision correction?

DH & I both wear contacts. DH is getting Lasik as he is a candidate, but I am not yet a candidate as my prescription changed while I was PG, so my Dr wants to wait a year for me to get it to make sure the change was only PG related.
