Yes, I'd feel bad. DH's grandparents are still alive and live in FL and they'd be really hurt if we were down and didn't see them.

But we'd see the grandparents when we were down. The only difference would be who we were going with. I don't know.

nope--i would not feel guilty at all. why? because you were asked to just "tag along" on a visit---you couldn't afford said visit.....and now a situation has risen where you can afford it. case closed.
don't feel guilty---they were only saying "come along with us" and you had to pay for everything---they should understand that this is about money...and thats it.
ITA. I wouldn't feel guilty at all.
I also know, if it were my parents and this happened to us, they would completely understand.
