Would you take your SLR camera

to your friend's wedding if you were IN the wedding?

Or should I just bring my other point and shoot, fit in my purse type digital camera?

Re: Would you take your SLR camera

I would. I just got one so I've been dying to use it. I get paranoid about bringing it out too but you will get such nice pics and since you're in the wedding, that's more of a reason!

Go for it!

I wouldn't. Only because you'll be off taking wedding photos, and who knows where you'll be able to leave your stuff.

If my husband was going to hold onto it during the professional shots, then I'd consider bringing it. (Our SLR is really his camera anyway).

I would definitely. I've been in 4 wedding parties and have brought my SLR to each one. I've asked DH to hold it and take pics during the actual ceremony but I take it immediately after and use it to get some shots that the photographer doesn't b/c they're not in the limo- all of my friends have always loved that I do it and I just leave it either under the table or on my seat (telling the other people at my table that it's there) or just leave it in the bridal suite part of the time-- never had anything bad happen to it.

No. I don't think you will really have time to use it and I would be afraid to carry it around.

I did. I used it a lot when we were all getting ready and when they were taking pictures. I was able to hand it over to DH to take pics at the ceremony.

Ditto. You might not havea ton of time, but you will be able to get some good shots.

me too, and i would have DH hold onto it during the ceremony. I feel like weddings are definitely a great place to get the value out of an SLR.

Re: Would you take your SLR camera

I don't think we would simply because the SLR costs much more than a digital point and shoot and it's a lot bigger and heavier to lug around.

I would. Why take crappy pictures if you have a better camera at home?

I would be afraid that I would lose it or it would break in the craziness. I hate using my "cheap" camera now but sometimes I am just too scared to bring the other one out. Esp now with my new lens.

I just think it would be a PITA to lug around a big SLR when you are in the wedding.

Think about holding flowers and walking around to take pics (I'm assuming they are doing indoor pics, but anyway). Then you have to leave it somewhere (on the floor, on a table) while you are IN the pics.

Unless your DH will be nearby to hand it off to when you get sick of it...

I would definitely, this would be the time that I want great pics for my good friend.
I'd save the point and shoot for a B list friend. Chat Icon
