I Need To Vent!!
I have been driving since the spring of 1991 and Today, what happens?? I FREAKIN GET MY FIRST TICKET EVER!!!
I am angry at myself and the cop! I have a very clean record. I was kind of hoping I'd be given a warning, but, nope!
I stopped at a stop sign, but, apparently, it was a "Rolling Stop". I guess I didn't sit long enough! Now, on the ticket she wrote "Disboyed Stop sign"..I KNOW I stopped! I DID NOT blow the sign.
Is it worth it to fight it? Should I just pay? How many points will be on my license? Will my insurance go up?
Im soooo freakin upset! My DH is awesome. He's like "It happens to everyone"..Im just annoyed at myself. From now on, Im gonna sit for like 5 mins. LOL.

Aaaahhh Feels a bit better!
ETA: I have to thank Briansbaby (christina) and Cakes (Carolyn) for letting me vent this AM at playgroup. LOL.

I hear ya. I would feel the same. I too never got a traffic violation.
Do you get points for this? I assume so, if so I would fight it. You may have to pay the tix, but you may likely not get points.
Surely make the effort and give it a shot.

Sorry!!! I got my 1st one ever last year for the same type of thing in the Village of Famingdale.
It does happen to everyone, but sorry you had a bad day. Hope tomorrow is better!!!!

If its suffolk you'll prolly still lose and get the points.
I fought a ticket, judged agreed with me and then still I had to pay and get the points.
most insurance carriers i know won't completely flip at a minor thing like this. However if it's frequent or you get a real azz guy they can affect you. Some cops give stop sign tickets to speeders. Most insurance folks know that. It goes with seatbelt tickets too.
But mostly its your first time, just take defensive driving or cry foul to your insurance carrier *IF* you see an increase.
No every insurance carrier runs your Driver's License every year. Mine doesnt!!  Still haven't paid increase for my ticket.

TY everyone. Im still in up in the air about going through with fighting it. I'll talk to DH. I know in the past his reactions were "Can't be bothered with court, just gonna pay it".
As for the insurance. If it does increase, I'll just take defensive driving and I will also take it to have the points knocked off.
uuuugghhhh I didn't realize how much this sux!!!
What gets me is:
1. I ALWAYS see people driving while on the phone.
2. Today, Im driving home, light turns yellow, YOU BET Im slowing down, sure enough, car next to me BLOWS the solid red light.
Any cops around? Of course not, which of course pizzes me off even more.
LOL.

according to my all state rep- they rarely re-run exsisting customers - it costs too much
I got a ticket 2 years ago and my insurance hasn't gone up- but down
don't stress - but fight it- it's always worth a try

Which county did you get it in? I got my one and only speeding ticket from a state trooper a few years ago. I was in Nassau County so to fight it, I had to go to Hempstead. Basically you meet with a DA and they offer you a lower charge and if you accept, you go and meet with the judge. If you decline they set a trial date (and then the officer appears). I think they weed a lot of people out this way, and then if you do contest it, there's a higher certainty that the officer will be there.
Everyone that showed up was offered a lower charge, whether they had a lawyer there or not.
The state trooper clocked me at 78 in a 55  . (I was on Ocean Parkway.) My fine was like $200 and I was charged with "failure to yield" and 3 points. It really $ucked, but it was better than pleading to the speeding. (Especially at that speed!)
Oh, and I DO NOT drive that fast anymore. I learned my lesson.

Sorry to hear this --- I may be wrong on this but the first time I got pulled over it was in NJ and the cop told me that he didn't want to give me points since it was my first offense so I got the same ticket. Check it out, I think that one doesn't have point associated with it and I think it was less than $100. If that is the case you may just want to pay it. You can run the risk of fighting it but I've tried to fight 2 tickets since then and each time in order to get them to go away they would charge you with a lesser charge and give you a boat load of fines plus court costs. since this one may not have points and therefore doesn't effect insurance than you may be better off. Again, I can be totally wrong but check it out before you spend the money. Mine was back in 2000.
