I recently changed from Independent to Democratic so that I could vote in the upcoming primary. My views are Independent but I've been a registered Dem since turning 18 so that I can vote in the primaries.

me thrice.
I don't let partisanship dictate who I vote for.
I've voted for republicans, demo's and independents.

Re: Spinoff to Politics
Democrat. I'm only 27, but since I've been old enough to care, I've never met a Republican candidate that I liked--or agreed with.

Re: Spinoff to Politics
I was a republican, was even a member of local young republican groups & clubs. I have not changed my status(but its on my list) but I rarely vote republican anymore. The truth is I can not completely indentify myself with any party anymore.

Re: Spinoff to Politics
i voted Undecided. I am technically registered as an Independent, but honestly, i rarely find any candidate that I truly like.
and i'll warn you now, i feel a tangent coming on--lol..... i find so many politicians to corrupt, money-hungry liars. They only have an opinion if it's going to get them votes. I would also like to see Hilary and Barack do their JOBS! last time i checked they were Senators, but they've been on the road for the past year and will be in '08 campaigning, so when are they advocating for their state???
Also, why is campaigning a money-hungry business and candidates can abandon their jobs for months and years at a time in this country?? Ridiculous... and we wonder why people in this country vote based on the commercials they saw and the bumper sticker on the car...and not the real issues.
I also struggle because many of my views fall under several categories. For example, in terms of education, welfare for the underprivelged, etc. I am Democratic. When it comes to abortion, euthansia, and other such matters I am staunchly pro-life. When it comes to working hard, supporting yourself and being patriotic, I am a Republican. So, basically, I tend to pick the lesser of the two evils. This country needs to open the door to more political parties... We are one of the only countries, if not the only country in the Western World to operate a solely two-party system. This is why as a country, we are often displeased with the person in office because they don't truly represent the majority of voters in terms of views.

ITA! You really made so many great points here!
and just to add insult to injury- the Senators should be happy that they're only campaigning for a year, so they were able to take off. If they had been requesting a maternity leave instead, they would've been screwed.
