DH wants me to quite my job
Financially we are in no position to lose my salary right now by any means.
I work about 55 miles from home and drive so I can be in the car each way an hour and a half - two hours each way. I'm 33/34 (Due Feb. 14th - had 1st DS at 37 weeks) weeks pregnant an having pressure and back pain from the long ride. I have spoken to my doctor about the situatioon but he doesn't see a reason to put me out on disability.
Last night I was stuck on the Bronx River for 1/2 dead stop because of an accident. I started to cramp from sitting so long and got scarred for the first time. What if..........?????????? I'm giving birth at South Nassua which is 1 hour 40 minutes on a good drive from work and how would I get there?
Thoughts??? I have a doctor's appointment today so I'll ask again but I don't think they will take me out which I think is crazy.

Is there any way to work from home or change your hours so atleast you are not driving during rush hour for the next few weeks? When did you plan on working until?

Unfortunately not. They won't adjust anything without a doctor's note. I actually was repramanded for leaving work a little early on a couple of days and I was told "this is not a part time poistion"

How about a different route? I know when I drive in that area I avoide tehh Bronx River and the Cross Bronx like the plague-do you have a GPS? If so, you can avoid certain roads on your route.

Re: DH wants me to quite my job
If I was giving advice as if it were me, I would say to stick it out as long as you are personally not too nervous, but that is because I always feel so invincible. If I was your DH though, I would feel the exact same way. It's tough because he probably feels like he would be helpless if you did go into labor far from LI. I'd talk to your doctor and tell them about cramping when in a traffic jam and see if he thinks you're better safe than sorry. Ooh maybe they'll have to chopper you out and DC will make it onto the news! j/k
Btw, that comment from your job makes me want to advise you to tell them to fukkk off and leave now. What an insensitive thing to say to a woman who is clearly at the end of her pregnancy!
