Going to the Melting Pot tomorrow
I am going there tomorrow night for my Birthday DInner (My birthday is Monday) can i wear jeans there or would it be ok to get dressed up? I dont want to be out of place? Anything specific I should get to eat--besdies the obvious?  I am so excited!!

OMG you are going to LOVE it!!! you can def. get dressed up if you want (although if you want to wear jeans and a nice top etc. you could)
EVERYTHING is sooo good! i like the cheddar fondue the best and if you like raw tuna and tuna is the fish option it is GREAT just put it in to cook for like 30 seconds and it is AMAZING! yummmm....i am salivating lol

I live close enough and tried to get my hubby to go today but he wasn't up to it (ugh).

I think my wife and I are the only ones who thought the fondue stunk actually at this place? The whole place felt very manufactured and "cheesy" for lack of a better word!
There is actually a really bad review of The Melting Pot in Newsday today.

sorry to bust your bubble-i didnt like the melting pot either.
i would suggest not going for the melted cheddar cheese- its too thick- maybe a swiss- something lighter...
the dessert makes up for the food though!

I just read that review. I had thought about taking a trip to Farmingdale to try it out, but after their review and their prices, I think I will be skipping it.
Though just like everything else, there will be those who hate it and those who love it!

If you want some good cheese fondue we love Waterzooi's beer cheese fondue in Garden City. Sooo good. But of couse my wife's recipe is the best!!

I usually wear jeans, and a nice top, its your birthday, if you want to dress up do it, and if you want to wear jeans thats fine too!
I HATE their cheddar cheese fondue, I think it tastes the way a foot smells, it just doesnt do it for me. A few nights ago we were there and had the spinach artichoke cheese one, and it was awesome. Also their caeser salad dressing doesnt taste right to me, so id stear clear of it..other than that everything else has been delicious.

I agree...its overpriced and not that great. You can get a better fondue at Sweetwaters.
I wasn't too thrilled with having to cook my own food. I prefer the cheese and chocolate fondues.
just a tip- if you get the Mojo cooking method (i think that was it...) don't sit downwind of it! it smelled great at first, but after it was on the table for an hour it started to make me feel queasy. The next day my bag and coat REEKED of it. Uck.

Fondue, sounds yummy! I haven't had it in ages. I got a fondue pot for my shower, but it's packed away at my IL's until we move into our new house.
I went to a place once in the city called Dip that was pretty good.
