Restaurant Help

We are finally seeing Spamalot tomorrow for the 2pm matinee. After we are going to see the tree do a little shopping and want to have dinner around 6.

I was hoping you guys could give me some inspiration. I don't care where the restaurant is, just want something different. I work in midtown so I would like to get out of the times square area. I don't care what kind of food although we are not fans of Indian.

Restaurants that DH has already vetoed are:

Zarela
Rosa Mexicano
Any of Mario Batali's places
Becco
Delfrisco
City Lobster
Bar Americain
Ruths Chris

We have reservations at La Masseria but I was thinking of getting out of that area altogether.

Re: Restaurant Help

I would love to do that but that is just another veto by DH.

I just made reservations at Morimoto and Del Posto. I think I need a 12 step program.

Ipanema is on 46th between 5th and 6th. They have Brazilian/South American/Portuguese food. I like the chicken with mushroms and garlic sauce or the house steak.

Re: Restaurant Help

How about Mesa Grill or Bolo. Both Bobby Flay's places and very good!

What are your husband's reasons for his vetoes?

If he vetoed Artisinal, he'd probably veto Swizz, but I like it. It's Swiss--they do a great fondue, but they have other interesting things too.

If you really want to get out of the area & go to tribeca, I'd recommend Le Cercle Rouge, if your DH isn't totally anti-French.

Re: Restaurant Help

I also second going to Tribeca, We went to a phenominal Greek restaurant called Thalassa.

It is located at 179 Franklin Street, New York City (212) 941-7661..

We went there, and then came up to see A chorus line... They even asked us if we were making a show...

Then there are the usuals-- but I am sure you need reservations months in advance:

Gramercy Tavern
Gotham Bar and Grille
Danielle

BRGuest restaurants are my go to places when I know I want good food and reasonable... Always have a good meal at any of them in any part of NYC..

Was going to suggest this as well. We went a couple of months ago and loved it.
