Re: food

What exactly can you NOT eat? Just about everything is OK in moderation!!!

The ONLY thing I totally cut out was alcohol, artifical sweeteners, and tuna (and that was because I wasn't a huge fan of it).

Re: food

I only stay away from a few things. I think you can have just about anything in moderation.

I totally know what you mean!!!!!!!!!! I'm Greek, and it's like what do you mean i can't eat feta....

I understand many of the ladies run the route of everything in moderation, but my doctor was against that. He said it's 9 months, and to stay clear of it.

Re: food

I know it's hard. My doctor told me cold cuts are ok if they are heated or cooked. I limit them to about once a week or every 10 days. I know people say everything in moderation but my doctor wasn't really for that either. She told me to steer clear of a lot of things so that's what I'm doing. Lunches are awful now because most of my staple lunches are a no. Just try to find food that you enjoy and before you know it you'll be eating all of your favorite foods again.

My doctor doesn't want me eating peanut butter which is killing me! It is the only food item that I want on my no list.

( i know it is random too because I have never heard of peanut butter being a no-no but...)

Re: food

My Dr. told me the only definite NO's are
Sushi and Unpasteurized Cheeses...everything else in moderation and cold cuts heated up are fine.

As far as Feta and/or Mozzarella - they are fine as long as they aren't imported. Just make sure they are made in the U.S. and you are fine.

Everything in moderation is the key.

You can have cold cuts if you heat them up first. The danger with cold cuts is bacteria, so if you heat them in the microwave on high for 20-30 seconds until they are steaming, you can eat them.
I pretty much eat everything the same as before. Stay away from unpasturized foods, raw fish/meat, alcohol, too much caffeine.

When I first got my BFP I felt the same way. I felt overwhelmed at what you hear, but in the end.....do what you feel comfortable with!

I just found nitrate free turkey bacon at the grocery store, you can have that!!! I try to avoid coldcuts or if I eat them I heat them up first. Some MDs say if you eat them, just get them from a reputable place so I have slipped up once and awhile, but you have to do what you are comfortable with!!
I know what you are feeling!! I finally found my comfort zone and now I have GD so I have to restrict again! Chat Icon

I have GD & I was complaining to my doctor about how hard finding something to eat for lunch is because I won't eat tuna or cold cuts & she actually laughed at me & said that the cases of listeria were from cold cuts from sketchy places & I should more than feel free to eat a turkey sandwich- I'm still scared so I'm staying away from cold cuts, but essentially you can eat most things as long as they're cooked or pasturized. Even caffeine, stuff w/ nitrates, etc are okay in moderation. Sometimes the stress of avoiding everything is worse than the food you're staying away from.
