Glucose test

Is there any way to prepare? Or in other words, should I not have ice cream tonight if I want to go tomorrow?
Is my 1 O'Clock PM brownie a bad idea?

How long do I have to fast?

This is what my dr said:

Try not to overload on sugar a few days prior, or that might increase the odds of needing the 3 hour test.

The day of, no eatting, drinking, smoking (I hope no one is smoking!) 3 hours prior to the test.

Have the drink 30 minutes prior to test
(dont forget to chill the drink!) and drink the amount within 5 minutes.

I say do what you normally do. It will totally succk if you fail the test, but you need to know how you normally react - not how your body reacts on the one day you behave yourself.

My birthday was the day before my test... do you honestly think I turned down my birthday cake? HELLLLL NO!!

But double check with your doctor if you actually need to fast - I did and I was practically passing out by the time I got to the doctor's office, only to find out that I could have had a small breakfast!!

My birthday is the 22nd and there is Christmas. My test is the 2th, I am not turning down desserts!

I was told nothing about fasting, just not to eat or drink 3 hours prior.

Never told to fast or watch what you eat a few days before, just an hour before is what I was told. I was going to get it done yesterday, but I had breakfast in the car while headed to my appointment, the nurse said she didnt want to run the risk of me getting the 3hr. so I am scheduled for monday.

My Doc didn't tell me to alter my diet running up to the test but to fast for 3 hours after before the lovely orange drink and up until the blood test. Then I went and got a glazed doughnut YUMMY
