I bought Dh one for Xmas. He can use it when he flies to TX for work and when he is working out. You can download tv episodes too

Interesting to read all the things you can do.
DH uses the mp3 player to listen to npr radio programs that he can't catch during the day.

The point of an Ipod is to drown out the stupid chatter in the Railroad/subway/bus/airport/airplaine, etc.
I'm surprised that so many people have no use for them.
It's also useful when you want to listen to actual music & not silly DJ's making prank phonecalls & giving their personal opinions on news stories they aren't fully informed about or mocking the latest celebrty faux pas.
